That is surely game over. Liverpool have been knocking on the door since the first goal and finally Sheffield United leave it ajar.

Mane has been busy and is rewarded for his persistence, firing in at the second attempt.

Unless they are staunchly in damage limitation mode, Sheffield United have no choice but to come out, which could be fatal. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Lots of intricate touches from the Liverpool players on the edge of the opposition box before Roberto Firmino finds a small gap to shoot.

It's blocked but comes through to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who can't squeeze a cut-back past the defence.

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane try a one-two in the box but George Baldock, sliding, manages to get there just in time to concede a corner.

It's played short to James Milner again and the cross is headed away. Mohamed Salah then lifts one in, which misses Virgil van Dijk by inches, and bounces all the way through, hitting the inside of the left post.

It's been so flat this second half. It seems that both sets of players are quite tired, there's not much energy in the game. Both are sides are quite content with just holding the ball in-and-around the midfield area. We need something to happen to breathe some life into this game.

Really nice from Sheffield United, who move it around with some nice first-touch passing in the left corner.

They can't get through James Milner, Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold though and it ends with John Fleck smashing a cross straight at Enda Stevens!

Roberto Firmino hasn't scored at Anfield since March and he fancies one. He cuts inside from the left and lets rip.

It's curling with pace towards the far corner but just skims wide. Inches!

Jurgen Klopp applauds him on the touchline.

It's taken quickly to James Milner but comes straight back out to Trent Alexander-Arnold. He swings one in but it doesn't fall for Sadio Mane.

Mohamed Salah then pings it over to the right for Georginio Wijnaldum but Sheffield United's back four stands firm. Liverpool remain patient and start again around the back.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is fouled by Enda Stevens after he controls the ball well on the right. Another set-piece opportunity...

Better from Sheffield United as Jack OConnell plays it early towards John Fleck. Virgil van Dijk, as ever, deals with it comfortably but has to concede a throw-in.

Trent Alexander-Arnold then smashes it into the arms of Enda Stevens and Liverpool have a free-kick near the halfway line.

It's started in much the same way as the first half ended.

Lys Mousset tries to get in behind of Virgil van Dijk but he's offside. The flag goes up straight away.

Roberto Firmino, who has looked a bit sluggish tonight, gives the ball away in midfield but John Fleck can't capitalise on it.

Joe Gomez then tries to feed Mohamed Salah in but it's dealt with well.

Tonyonduli: The return of Gomez has Liverpool retiring to defensive curmudgeons, a little sharpness up front and the floodgates will open. It’s been an exceptional 12 months and game by game who knows how many more to follow! Jurgen is a genius!

Brian: Have to agree with AR Vind (4.57) Firmino has been very poor, control and passing choices/accuracy abysmal. Mane not much better and he looks tired and in need of a real rest. Happy to see Elliott and possibly Jones second half pushing Wijnaldum further forward.

Andy Robertson takes it and swings it in, across the six-yard box. Virgil van Dijk is inches away from connecting but it somehow bounces straight out for a goal kick under pressure from Enda Stevens.

How did that not go in?

Chris Basham handballs it on the edge of the box, to the left. Liverpool will have a free-kick in a very good position for Trent Alexander-Arnold.
