  2. 'Enormous task for Sheffield United'published at 19:40 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2020

    Charlie Adam
Reading midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think this will be a tough game for Sheffield United but they have the opportunity to go fifth in the table, if they can win. It's an enormous task because Liverpool have just got a different mindset to a few seasons a go. They just want to win every game and every game is as important as the last one.

Running out of days to plug this...

But it's worth it. The big fat quiz of the decade. Tom Rostance has piled together some awesome questions to keep you busy.

Most goals, most appearances, most assists, promotions, general trivia, FA Cup final goalscorers, title winners, award winners and a picture round. THE WHOLE LOT.

I did alright but stumbled on the trivia and the FA Cup rounds. Let me know how you get on.

Ryan Allan: Scored a hat-trick in a 3.1 win at under 17 schools match - upon scoring the 3rd, a penalty, I tore off my shirt to reveal a white t-shirt which, with a crudely applied felt tip pen, revealed the modest message "HAT-TRICK HERO" - Surprised I made it home that night.

Liverpool v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

    Stephen Warnock
Ex-Liverpool defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is a completely different Liverpool side now because of the mentality they have. They lost the Champions League final and then the Premier League by a point - most teams couldn't come back from that type of loss but the position Liverpool are in now - European champions and on top of the league by so much - it's a fantastic achievement.

  7. 'It is one to relish'published at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2020

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder talking to BT Sport: "The reason we wanted to be in the Premier League was for challenges and nights like tonight.

"It doesn't come more difficult than tonight but it's about making sure this becomes a regular Premier League fixture.

"If we are going to be successful we have to be clinical in both boxes. We have a few scousers in the team and it is one to relish."

  8. 'Doing an incredible job'published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2020

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp tells BT Sport: "The first target of the New Year is clear - we want to win a football game and it's not much different in the other changing room.

"We respect Sheffield enormously, they are doing an incredible job."

On the 1-0 win over Sheffield United in September, he added: "We had some good moments, the runs were brilliant and we could've caused them more problems than we did.

"It was a lucky goal but if there was one team that deserved to win it was us."

On just the one change to his team, Klopp said: "We had a day off and that's like a week-and-a-half holiday."

Sheffield United are heading to Anfield on the back of their first away defeat of the season, while Liverpool just keep churning out results.

I have been impressed with the Blades this season. They have been fabulous - long may it continue.

But I cannot see beyond a home win.

    Lawro's prediction: 3-0

  16. The challenge for Wilder's teampublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January 2020

Liverpool v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

Sheffield United start 2020 just two points off fifth place in the Premier League table.

That's an astonishing achievement for Chris Wilder's team, who have been a breath of fresh air since their promotion from the Championship.

It will be their first visit to leaders Liverpool for 13 years tonight and they are well aware of the challenge that faces them.

But Sheffield United gave them a run for their money back in September when Liverpool needed a 70th-minute goal from Georginio Wijnaldum to seal the deal.

Can they cause similar problems today and finally break Liverpool's incredible run?

Liverpool v Sheffield United (20:00 GMT)

    Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp on the success of 2019: "I spent a lot of the post-match interviews after Wolves being asked about my reflections of 2019 and even though it was a year with a lot of happy memories, from a football perspective there isn't anything 'new' we have to think about. There is no pause and certainly no stop.

"Our professional life works in 'seasons' rather than calendar years, so in this moment I am not in the reviewing mood.

"We are exactly halfway through a league campaign, with two cup competitions to fight for also. So, we are right in the middle of something and nowhere near an ending."

Pat Cronin: Lobbed a keeper just inside my own half at a football tournament. Still lost 8-2 mind, but was voted goal of the tournament!
