    Chris Wood

    There you go.

    Right place, right time.

Ben Mee meets a corner and heads towards goal. Kasper Schmeichel prevents that finding the net but can only palm it out to Chris Wood for the simplest of finishes into an empty net.

Wood from a corner. They've shown this episode before.

Wood - as tends to be the case - is the best hope Burnley appear to have for a goal.

For a second it looks like he might be in on goal, but Jonny Evans responds sharply and gathers possession before clearing.

    Oh, just wide!

Burnley part in midfield, allowing James Maddison to run through unchallenged. He spies his opportunity to shoot but curls an effort from the edge of the box just fractionally wide.

It has been a lively start to the second half. Perez almost weaves his way through to a shooting chance in the Burnley box but is crowded out, allowing the Clarets to clear.

Fantastic one-touch football - Maddison, Barnes, into Praet - and Burnley just standing off them a little bit too much. Nick Pope makes a fantastic save at full stretch.

Burnley respond and Chris Wood gets up above Christian Fuchs to meet a cross from the left but head the ball over.

    It's a good chance.

At the moment one or two of the Burnley players are second-guessing themselves. When you are down there at the bottom of the league you have got to pull yourself out of trouble by doing the right things at the right moment. That is done by playing on your instincts and that is what they need to do.

    Brilliant save!

Leicester start the half with a prolonged period of possession that ends with an exchange of passes between players including Barnes and Praet in the box, a curling shot from the latter and a superb, diving, one-handed save from Nick Pope to push the ball away.

Could be crucial as you can't see Burnley coming back from two goals down.

Fabinho and Joel Matip are likely to be in Liverpool's squad, having returned to full training on Wednesday after respective ankle and knee injuries.

The Merseysiders are again without James Milner, Dejan Lovren and Naby Keita.

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford is a major doubt with a back injury but will be given until the last minute to prove his fitness.

Luke Shaw, who is nursing a hamstring problem, will also be assessed.

Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay, Marcos Rojo and Axel Tuanzebe remain out, though Eric Bailly could come into contention after playing in a behind-closed-doors game on Tuesday.

Here is some early team news for the encounter at Anfield...

    Burnley 0-1 Leicester

Burnley have now failed to score a first-half goal in 11 successive Premier League games, the longest run by any team in the competition since the Clarets themselves went 12 matches without doing so between February and May 2015 (12).

Burnley still think they are in this game. Leicester have looked good in patches without being at their fluent best.

Burnley do what they do, Leicester are trying to do what they do. It's a clash of styles but at the moment it is a good contest.

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+1 mins

    Burnley 0-1 Leicester

Sean Dyche is not happy. He walks across the field chuntering to anyone who will listen.

The fact is though that his side have drawn another blank in a first half.

    Harvey Barnes' goal the difference.

Is this a bit of frustration and retribution? Charlie Taylor goes in late on Dennis Praet and sends him to the turf. That definitely was a foul.

James Maddison goes down under a challenge by Dwight McNeil soon after, but this was most certainly not a foul. A blatant dive.

Thankfully, Perez heads over from the resulting free-kick, otherwise there would have been hell on.

Burnley have shown a reaction since the goal. McNeil is wanting the ball all the time. He's shouting at his players: "Give me the ball, I can do something, I can make a difference."

When he gets on the ball Burnley are looking more of a threat.

Burnley have responded to falling behind, to be fair. They are trying to muster something with some challenging balls into the box.

Phil Bardsley the latest to cross but Jonny Evans is there - he so often is - to head away.

Cork then lofts a ball in for Wood to head straight at the Foxes keeper.

Blatant foul leading to Leicester's goal - what on earth is the point of VAR if it isn't going to intervene in obvious cases of referee error?

    Lizzie

I'm really not sure it was a blatant foul, though. Have we been conditioned to think any time a player goes in hard and another goes down it warrants a free-kick?

  19. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Burnley 0-1 Leicester

Leicester get themselves into some bother with some playing out from a goal-kick under pressure, but after gifting the ball to Burnley the away side are relieved when Jeff Hendrick's cross is straight to Schmeichel.

The goal has changed the mood in the ground. The locals are angry - probably as much at the perceived injustice of the tackle in the build-up to the goal as their side falling behind.
