    Aberdeen 0-0 St Mirren

St Mirren nearly stun the Dons with a well-worked move down the left that ends in Tony Andreu's volley forcing a cracking stop from goalkeeper Joe Lewis.

St Mirren defender Gary MacKenzie then has a free header 12 yards out but gets it all wrong.

Two very different styles coming head to head here, which intrigues me. Killie are the basic 4-4-1-1 and Hibs play with the diamond. A very, very difficult match to call

The game of the day in the third tier is at Excelsior Stadium, where leaders Airdrieonians, on a run of five straight wins, host third-top East Fife, who are a point behind and have only won once in five outings.

Second-placed Raith Rovers, unbeaten in four but who were held by struggling Forfar Athletic last week, will look to take advantage of any slip ups as they visit Montrose.

Fourth-top Falkirk face their first league game under caretaker bosses Lee Miller and David McCracken as they host bottom side Stranraer, who will take confidence from knocking Championship side Dunfermline out of the Scottish Cup.

    Motherwell v St Johnstone (15:00)

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "We need to get back to keeping clean sheets.

"There's nothing between any of the sides except for the top two. The rest are very much alike. I look at Tommy's [Wright] squad and I think they've got some very exciting players."

  9. Big chance for Caley Thistlepublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Scottish Championship

With leaders Dundee United's game away to Morton being postponed, and Ayr inactive after their match with Arbroath biting the dust, Inverness Caledonian Thistle have a chance to move into second place as they visit ninth-placed Alloa Athletic. However, the home side are unbeaten in their last three outings.

Dundee can draw level with Ayr should they beat Queen of the South at Dens Park. Both sides are looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat.

Meanwhile, Partick Thistle, still at the bottom despite being in unbeaten in four games under new manager Ian McCall, visit his former club, Dunfermline Athletic, who are looking to avoid a third consecutive loss.

  10. Dons on high, Buddies on lowpublished at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Aberdeen v St Mirren (3pm)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland

It has been a pretty momentous week for Aberdeen.

There has been confirmation Dave Cormack is to take over as chairman; £5m of new investment is incoming and a ‘strategic partnership’ with Major League Soccer club Atlanta United has also been announced.

With a lot going on off the pitch, the focus today is very much on it.

Having lost just one of their last seven games, Aberdeen will be confident of getting a victory that would strengthen their grip on third place.

St Mirren are one of four teams locked on 11 points at the foot of the table, so their need for wins is clear to see.

  11. Buddies look to avoid recordpublished at 14:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Aberdeen v St Mirren (15:00)

St Mirren are at Pittodrie looking to avoid equalling an unenviable record. Only Dundee United, in 2000-01, have lost all eight of their first away league games since the Premiership began in 1998.

Indeed, the Buddies have lost four of their last five games while Aberdeen are unbeaten in four, have only lost one of their last seven home league games and have only lost one of their most recent 19 home league games against the Paisley side.

However, St Mirren did beat the Dons 1-0 at home in August - and drew on last visit to Pittodrie in February.

    Quote Message

It's just taken too long for Hearts to replace Craig Levein. It's not efficient and not effective. I think Hibs have done it exactly the right way - that was the right amount of time to take. Anything more than three to four weeks is not right

  13. Ross cooking up revivalpublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Hibernian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Having ditched Paul Heckingbottom, everything is coming up roses for Hibs under Jack Ross.

They are unbeaten in four home games and are looking to win a fourth consecutive league game - two under the new head coach - for the first time since October last year under Neil Lennon.

Hibs are also unbeaten in four home league games against today's visitors.

But Kilmarnock were unbeaten in four games against their hosts until being edged out the League Cup on penalties in September.

Kilmarnock are looking to avoid suffering a third straight away league defeat for the first time since May 2015, but Angelo Alessio's side will be boosted by a draw and win at home in their most recent outings.

  14. 'Onus on us to attack' - McInnespublished at 14:48 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Aberdeen v St Mirren (15:00)

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes expects stuffy resistance from St Mirren and tells BBC Scotland his decision to make three changes is based solely on the here and now.

"It is a team picked to try to win the game today," McInnes says. "I don't think we can look at the hectic schedule.

"Young Dean Campbell comes in because we will need to pass the ball well today and he can move the ball quickly.

"We understand the onus is on us to break St Mirren down. They will try to frustrate, so we will have the majority of the ball and it's important we try to be as positive as we can."

St Johnstone have only kept one clean sheet this season - Tommy Wright will be putting the message to his players to try to keep a clean sheet. With a poor start to the season, you need to slowly build up points and today they need the mentality that they can't concede

  16. Off form warning signspublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Livingston v Hamilton Academical (15:0)

It's the battle of the Premiership's most off-form sides in West Lothian.

Hosts Livingston have earned plaudits for punching above their weight this season and last, but there are worrying signs for Gary Holt's side after three consecutive defeats and they are without a win in six outings, have one victory in their last 11 and haven't scored in two home games.

Hamilton have only won one in their last 12 league outings, haven't won in seven games since beating today's hosts 2-1 at home in September and have failed to win in seven away league games since a 3-2 success over Airdrieonians in the League Cup.

Brian Rice's side are looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat at Almondvale.

  17. Wright eyes experienced defenderpublished at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Motherwell v St Johnstone (15:00)

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright tells BBC Scotland that an experienced defender is his number one target in the January transfer window.

"That will be key for us," he says. "It's more to help the younger players at the back.

"We're still only three points off seventh place, which is remarkable considering the bad run we've been on this season. We're feeling a wee bit better about ourselves because we've got seven points out of 12.

"I believe we can win this game today."

  18. Ross looks for continuitypublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Hibernian v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross names an unchanged line-up for the visit of Kilmarnock as his side target a fourth win in a row, and third since he took charge.

He tells BBC Radio Scotland: "Everything has been going as well as could be expected and it’s nice to have that continuity of selection.

"What we want to do is give ourselves a platform for the second half of the season and to do that we need to keep winning games.

"Kilmarnock, to their credit, have been consistently in that part of the table for a while now under two different managers. That shows how good the core group of that squad is."

  19. Saints' away-day bluespublished at 14:40 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

    Motherwell v St Johnstone (15:00)

Motherwell are looking to avoid three straight league defeats for the first time since December last year, but the losses in their most recent two games came away from home and manager Stephen Robinson will be confident that they can record a third consecutive win on their home patch.

Even more so considering they won 1-0 at McDiarmid Park in September against today's opponents, who arrive having failed to win any of their seven away games this season - and are without a win in 14 on the road in the Premiership stretching into last season.

However, St Johnstone will take heart from holding Aberdeen to a 1-1 draw in their latest outing despite being reduced to nine men and Tommy Wright's side have now only lost one of their last four, albeit all those were at home.

Indeed, they have won on five of their last seven league visits to Fir Park.

  20. Hibs for European spot?published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 30 November 2019

Draw after draw was not going to be good enough for Paul Heckingbottom - but adding the three wins in a row since he was sacked, it comes out looking very promising. Confidence is going to be flowing through the side. I think Hibs are in a very strong position to challenge for the European spots at the end of the season
