Cenk Tosun does really well to stretch and keep a deep ball into the box in play, but his improvised volleyed cross on the stretch is straight into the hands of Leno.

Such is the scarcity of attacking moves in this game, that probably ranks in the top three.

    Everton 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal are presented with a good opportunity as Sidibe goes to ground, the referee waves play on and Saka can charge forward. He has targets to aim at in the box but curls his cross over the goal and into the stand.

Mr Shettyz: This game has no thrill I hope Kroenke supports Arteta. Arteta + transfer funds = success.

Malc: How has David Luiz not been booked yet?

Goalkeepers Bernd Leno and Jordan Pickford have had nothing to do so far. Leno's only concern has been shielding his eyes from the sun.

Mark Taylor: What time do they kick off? Seriously this is dreadful by both teams.

Femi John Atoyebi: 0 attempts for Arsenal after 25 minutes. Arteta, if not already, knows the enormity of the task before him. Quick fix or it will be #Outeta by February.

Bit of a shout for handball against Arsenal in their own box. Would have been incredibly harsh to adjudge it so, as Yerry Mina's shot was into a group of players bang in front of him.

First yellow card is a daft one as Bukayo Saka is booked for preventing the re-start of play.

Luiz is in the thick of the action again, but a free-kick delivered towards him in the box is a foot too high and the Brazilian can't connect with his header.

David Luiz has flaws but he can sure ping a ball when he wants to. He sends a pinpoint pass across thew width of the pitch right to feet of Gabriel Martinelli, but the young forward is closed down sharply and another potential attack ends.

Bob Moss: Boy this game is dull, maybe they can bring the new managers on to play, can't be worse.

    Everton 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal have a go at trying to fashion something. They have a lot of possession in the Everton half but do little with it as the home side win a throw-in. Lots of promise but nothing produced.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is bundled to the floor by David Luiz, who is looking very clumsy. Not sure he can blame that on the sun in his eyes.

As my colleague Mr McNulty pointed out a few entries ago, this is a messy affair. Hasn't been a single period of fluid play yet.

Oh, some of the home fans thought this was in. It almost was as well. Gylfi Sigurdsson strikes the free-kick over the wall and just past the post, the ball ruffling the sidenetting.

Everton come again and win a free-kick on the edge of the box - Richarlison upended by David Luiz.

Not sure what, if anything, Carlo Ancelotti and Mike Arteta will have gleaned so far. It's all been a bit of a mess.

A little spell of pressure from Everton ends with a cross falling to Richarlison in the box but his effort is blocked by the thigh of Bukayo Saka. That'll have stung a tad. Ball was travelling.

Steven Patrick: Coleman must have a knock because he's far better than Sidibe for me, defensively and offensively.

Matt Kowech: Five Englishmen starting for Arsenal in the Premier League. Can't recall when this last happened . Gareth better be watching.

No immediate change needed for Arsenal. Martinelli is going to try and run it off.
