More from Burnley boss Sean Dyche speaking to Match of the Day: "It was incredibly poor conditions for travelling let alone football. A tough game, really tough. We had to dug in again like we do.

"I thought the first goal had bounced off the keeper and we put the rebound in. Having seen it again I see their player has let it through.

"We didn't take a grip of the game then, they did. We waited for the game to come to us and you can't do that. They were better than us first half. Second half, we calmed the game down. We scored a sublime goal.

"Chris Wood has got a hamstring [problem]. We're happy he got off quick and could feel it early. We don't spend massive amounts of money and so that involves a whole squad of players. Matej Vydra keeps himself right and he's delivered."

Southampton boss Ralph Hassenhuttl speaking to BT Sport: "We lost against a better team if you want. They did what they do best, playing in behind the last line. We conceded two early and too easily.

"In the second half we couldn't keep the game in our half. It wasn't enough to win the game.

On the first goal: "We can clear the ball but Danny Ings lets it go in. We then showed a good reaction and tried to outplay them. Outworking this team is not easy because they are strong.

"We had one or two chances in the second half but not enough. We could have had a penalty with a handball but I won't discuss it because it's boring talking about these decisions. It's frustrating to see that sometimes it is and sometimes it's not.

"We tried in different ways to beat this opponent and didn't. They did well and fought for everything.

On the poor home form: "It's not about the kit we wear, it's about the game we play. We were not that clinical and not that good."

Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche speaking to BT Sport: "It was a tough one. They are in good form and have a lot of energy in their performances.

"They responded to our goal and were the better side. We kept at it but didn't find much. At half-time I gave [the Burnley players] a reminder of what it takes.

"We had chances and created moments where we could have done better but at the end of the day, you take that. All day long."

On Matej Vydra's goal: "It was a fantastic finish. Everyone has to play their part. It's a great credit to these players. He hasn't had a lot of football, came in today, worked hard and got his rewards. When they get the chance, they deliver.

"We just want to build on last season. We want more points. It's another shift forward. It's about development. We just have to find a way to win. That's the art of the game - to win."

Sean Dyche on Chris Wood's injury: "It's a hamstring for Woody. We'll wait and see. I don't think it's bad. We got him off quickly. So we'll see."

Adama Traore is a physical marvel of a footballer; built like a middleweight boxer (although incredibly he says he doesn't lift weights) yet with the lightning speed of an Olympic sprinter.

He'd look just at home weaving effortlessly through NFL defences as well as terrorising Premier League ones, which he has done throughout 2019-20 - his statement season in English football for Wolves.

Unplayable at times, he has scored five goals, assisted 10 more and played a vital role in numerous others by drawing fearful defenders into his orbit.

But it wasn't always the case. There was a time when Traore was likened to a motor vehicle in much more disparaging terms...

Burnley goalscorer Matej Vydra speaking to BT Sport: "I was waiting so long for this chance and just tried to do my best and help for three points. I scored so I'm happy for me and my mates.

"It was a brilliant goal, but most important is the three points.

"Four games, three wins, we are going up in the table and I think everyone is happy right now."

"We said at half-time we sat off them too much. We needed to get on the front foot and the second half won us the game.

"Even when we go on a bad run our heads don't go down. The win today was massive for us and it's put us in a good position."
