    Ashley Westwood

    Errr, what just happened?

Ashley Westwood swings a corner in towards the near post and Danny Ings lets it go. The wind carries it through, past Alex McCarthy, who tries to scramble it away but it's already gone over the line.

Ben Mee then pokes the rebound in just in case and Southampton's players are appealing it's gone out.

Very bizarre but it definitely went in. What was Ings doing?! Bonkers goal.

Kyle Walker-Peters has hit first touch for Southampton and he's put under pressure from Burnley striker Chris Wood, conceding a throw-in.

On Wolves disallowed goal last night against Leicester City:

I just think VAR is ridiculous. Without it being really pointed out to you, you'd never know where the offside is. How can you give that as offside?

We want to see goals in the games. The technology is being used to rule goals out rather than us seeing more goals and aiding creativity.

    Not much between them.

This is how the table stands going into today's early kick-off. A win could bump Southampton or Burnley up to 10th place, ahead of Arsenal and just a point below Manchester United.

    Southampton v Burnley (12:30 GMT)

    • Southampton are winless in their past six Premier League meetings with Burnley (D3, L3), failing to score in four of them.
    • Burnley could win both league games against Southampton for the first time since 1947 in the second tier.
    • There have been only two away victories in 21 top-flight meetings.
  12. Lawro's predictionpublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    Southampton v Burnley (12:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC Sport

Southampton ended up on the wrong end of a 4-0 defeat at Liverpool in their last league game, but they had played very well at Anfield.

Burnley also deserved more from their home game against Arsenal. They drew 0-0 but had enough chances to win it.

Saints still have the worst home record in the Premier League this season, with 11 points from 12 games, but they have actually picked up a lot recently after taking only one point from their first six matches at St Mary's.

Plus Southampton striker Danny Ings is still in a purple patch, and you have to fancy him to score against the Clarets, who are one of his former teams.

So there are plenty of reasons to back Saints here, although I am slightly reluctant because of how well Burnley are playing.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

    Katie Ormerod's prediction: 1-0

    Uh-oh.

We've got another storm on its way. After Ciara decided to ruin the party last weekend, it's Dennis' turn this weekend.

The UK is braced for more disruption as Storm Dennis "is likely to bring very heavy rain, flooding and disruption" in some areas, the Met Office has said.

Amber warnings for rain and yellow warnings for wind , externalare in place for most of the country from this afternoon and into Sunday evening.

Hopefully no issues in today's Premier League but one to keep an eye on.

    Manchester City's ban from Europe

    Alex Scott
    Ex-England international on Football Focus

As a player you'll want answers but there aren't any yet because of the appeal. There isn't much loyalty in football anymore, apart from maybe to your manager so I think the players will be wanting to know what Pep Guardiola is going to do.

  16. 'Not sure the appeal will make a difference'published at 12:05 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    Manchester City's ban from Europe

    BBC Radio Manchester

Kevin Parker, chairman of Manchester City supporters association, talking to BBC Radio Manchester: "I’m not massively surprised to be honest with you. It has been going on for some considerable amount of time. I think if you read the statements the clubs have released in the last 12 months, they have been expecting Uefa would probably ban them from European competitions.

"I think two years is a bit of surprise. I always get a bit confused that when you’re accused of financial fair play you get fined too, where do they think you’re going to get the money from? City will challenge it, I’m not sure whether it will make a great deal of difference."

  17. The Danny Ings derbypublished at 12:03 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    Southampton v Burnley (12:30 GMT)

    Simon Brotherton
    BBC commentator

These two teams, in mid-table and separated by only goal difference, currently enjoy a seven-point cushion above the relegation zone.

Southampton's season has hardly been built on their form at St Mary's though: 11 points at home is the lowest return of any Premier League team.

Burnley won convincingly when the sides met on the opening day of the season and they collected all three points at Old Trafford in their most recent away game.

This match also brings Danny Ings up against the club where he made his name. His current total of 14 league goals is his best return since scoring 21 for the Clarets in the Championship six years ago.

How good are Jadon Sancho and Erling Braut Haaland? The Borussia Dortmund youngsters just can't stop scoring.

Both of them netted in the 4-0 win over Frankfurt last night, taking Dortmund one point behind leaders Bayern Munich, who play Cologne tomorrow.

Sancho has netted 12 times in his past 14 games in all competitions. Norway striker Haaland has scored nine goals in his first six games for Dortmund since a £17m switch from RB Salzburg last month.

He is the first player to score eight goals in his first five Bundesliga appearances and only eight players have scored more Bundesliga goals than Haaland this season.

  20. Burnley's Gibson to train with Boropublished at 11:57 Greenwich Mean Time 15 February 2020

    Southampton v Burnley (12:30 GMT)

Burnley defender Ben Gibson has been given permission to train with his former club Middlesbrough.

The 27-year-old joined the Clarets from Boro for £15m in August 2018 but has only appeared once in the league.

His sole competitive game for Burnley this season came in a 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat by Sunderland in August.

The Clarets said Gibson had "made it clear that he wanted to leave" in January but that they "did not receive an offer it felt was acceptable".

Gibson made 185 league appearances for Boro and was called up to the England squad in March 2017.

He has two years remaining on his Burnley contract.
