  2. 'We're trying to look for situations that will help us'published at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2020

Liverpool v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

West Ham boss David Moyes has defended his tactics in Wednesday's 2-0 defeat at Manchester City.

He played a 5-4-1 with Michail Antonio up front on his own and Felipe Anderson, Manuel Lanzini and Sebastien Haller on the bench.

"I think the real supporters understand how difficult the games are. They understand that the two games we have in this period are very hard," Klopp said.

"In the main many of the supporters I have spoken to have been very supportive and really understanding.

"We went there hoping to get something from the game. We've tried other formations and other players that haven't worked either. We're trying to find situations and look for situations that will help us."

  3. 'Losing was like sunshine to hardest rain'published at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 24 February 2020

Liverpool v West Ham (20:00 GMT)

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects a reaction tonight from the Reds' Champions League defeat by Atletico Madrid, which was only their third defeat of the season.

"We lost the game, there's absolutely no positive in it, but if there's any help in that result it's that you felt a defeat," he said.

"Nobody thought: 'Oh, in the league we're fine'.

"We have to put it right to get the other feeling back. I don't think we ever lost how a win feels, but now we lost the difference is massive. It's much more than three points. It's really from sunshine to hardest rain.

"That's how it should be if you want to be successful, how we could have been in that game. Then it has to feel really bad and that's how it felt. So yes, we want to put it right even though it will be a different competition."

If David Moyes goes for it tonight and they lose 6-0, would we really say 'well done'? Or would we say 'boy that was naive'?

If you play this breaking game five times in a season and you win two of them that's probably not a bad idea. They did it recently at Chelsea, they were so defensive but they found a way to win.

    Charlie Cooper and Daisy May

Liverpool did not play very well in their Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday night, but you have to accept the Spanish side were very good at what they did.

After getting an early goal, Atletico wanted a clean sheet and they did everything right to get one. They were so well drilled. Defeat is not something that Jurgen Klopp's side have experienced too often this season, and I do not see it happening to them twice in a week.

As for West Ham, well no-one is expecting them to get anything here, the same as when they lost at Manchester City on Wednesday night - but they have to start picking up points soon, otherwise they might get cut adrift a little bit.

    Lawro's prediction: 2-0

    Daisy May and Charlie: 5-0

You're fearing the worse for West Ham tonight after David Moyes' comment about protecting the goal difference against Manchester City last week. With picking the same team almost you're almost going out expecting the same result. I dunno.

I guess 'this means less' to me.

It's a special skill that Jurgen Klopp has got. It doesn't matter if you're getting one minute or 80 minutes, you're giving everything you've got. It sounds like such a simple thing and punters at home will be saying 'well shouldn't they be doing that anyway' but it doesn't happen at every club. It does every time for every player and Jurgen Klopp has that ability to get it.

It's stunning that Liverpool manage to keep all their players fit. I've been thinking it for two seasons now. I don't think they would have been to do that if they'd maintained the high-pressing style that Jurgen Klopp first came with; their game planning has got better and better. Some people say it's lucky but it is stunning.

Jordan Henderson is injured tonight, but is anyone panicking? No. I think Virgil van Dijk is the only player people would panic about and he's not been injured.
