Do you know why Germany are playing from left to right in the first half? A little psychological war game starting already. Ronaldo won the toss and you don't see this very often in the modern game, they changed ends. Germany will not be attacking the home end in the second half.

The German national anthem is a corker.

Top three? Certainly in the top five in Europe along with France and Russia.

Shahzaib Talpur: Joachim Low is mad! Why is he playing with three at the back!!! And what will it take for him to include Sané in the starting 11.

Gemma-Kirstie: There's a goal of the tournament competition how about having an "own goal of the tournament competition" Germany's Hummels own goal was pretty good.

This feels like a proper European Championship match, doesn't it?

    That's because it it.

This will be the fifth encounter between Portugal and Germany at the Euros. Only Italy and Spain have faced each other more in the tournament with six matches.

Even the goats feel the heat at times.

It's a sweltering 32C in Munich and Cristiano Ronaldo has had to pour an ice cold bottle of water over his head after warming-up.

    Raphael Honigstein
German football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

Joachim Low will always be a World Cup winner, but if Germany crash out here or performs badly with Germany, he will be the one national manager that has had two bad tournaments in a row.

That will raise questions over his legacy.

Toni Kroos completed exactly 100 passes against France. In the last three major tournaments, there have been six instances of a Germany player completing 100+ passes in a game.

All six have been by Kroos.

Portugal defender Jose Fonte looks chilled, he is sat on a ball during the warm-up while the other players do some work around him.

That's the equivalent of putting your feet up on the desk in the office.

    Portugal v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Neil Lennon
Former Northern Ireland midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Germany looked quite dysfunctional in the final third against France. Serge Gnabry was played through the middle and had little impact on the game. We know he's a potent player in the wider areas so whether it is a change of formation I don't know.

They are going to struggle up there with no focal point in the attack. In the second half they had plenty of possession but didn't test the keeper anywhere near enough.

  20. 'Why change the system?'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 19 June 2021

    Portugal v Germany (17:00 BST)

    Christian Fuchs
Leicester and Austria left-back on BBC Radio 5 Live

When you look at Germany's qualifying games they looked better with a four at the back. Their only loss in qualifiers was with a three at the back so why would you go back to a system that didn't feel the same when you have four at the back?
