  1. 'Germany will want to create more'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    HT: England 0-0 Germany

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

Germany will want to create a couple more chances, they want to see more people getting dangerous and also creating something maybe out of set-pieces. That would calm them down a little bit because they see England are pushing and unless we get a counter attack like with Werner, there was not much in it.

  2. 'Saka has that unpredictability'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    HT: England 0-0 Germany

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

We talk about being fearless. Bukayo Saka has no worries. He has the confidence to receive the ball and drive forward. He has that unpredictability in the team. He can go left or right. One thing's for sure he'll take the ball to defenders.

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

When Muller comes towards the ball, normally a centre-back will go in with him but they are scared of Werner's pace in behind. So they were very reluctant to go in and Muller controlled the game for the opening 10 minutes.

  4. 'Werner can beat anyone with his pace'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    HT: England 0-0 Germany

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

These are the moments he is waiting for and is hungry for because he knows with his pace he can beat anybody. When the midfielders get the ball they are looking for him. He's moving around, trying to create himself some space. Then he makes a run and then he goes and with his speed he can beat even Kyle Walker.

Chris: Mats Hummels. He is a top quality defender. Saved two goals there, credit where it's due.

Only Kevin De Bruyne (33) has created more chances than Kieran Trippier (27) at the 2018 World and Euro 2020 combined, with nine of those 27 by Trippier setting up Harry Maguire shots, including two today.

I think Maguire's been great at set-pieces. He'll say it himself, he really could have scored.

  9. 'Kane needs to roam around more'published at 17:56 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    HT: England 0-0 Germany

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

Harry Kane has often showed with Spurs he didn't get a rhythm in the game then he drops back and gets some touches and becomes lively. Then he goes back in a number nine role and this is about confidence because us forwards, we know we need to be alive, we need to be in the game. If he roams around more he does himself a favour and does his team a favour.

  12. 'Patience will be running out' with Kanepublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    England 0-0 Germany

    Alan Shearer
Former England striker on BBC One

We struggled for the first 10 minutes but once we got in there we passed and moved it around and created one or two chances.

Bukayo Saka was very lively on that right-hand side and has to do more of that.

We have to be careful with them on the break and Kyle Walker has done well to stop that.

    Very even so far.

A confident Harry Kane sticks that (last minute) chance away, it fell perfectly for him, can he put it away with his left foot?

Raheem Sterling drove in there. It was a sitter. Harry has to offer more, there is a lack of movement from him and he has to help the team more. He should be finishing it off a lot better.

He has to do more and patience will be running out.

This is a poor German side, we are respecting them too much. Get Grealish on for Sterling. Get him running at them.

  14. 'Germany are dangerous'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    HT: England 0-0 Germany

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One

Saka has been our bright spark along with Sterling.

I expect us to come out more in the second half. Put our personality into the game.

But we must be aware, Germany have that quality. When they've got into the final third, they've looked dangerous.

  15. 'England have had moments'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    HT: England 0-0 Germany

    Karen Carney
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

When we started to deal with the pocket play England were a lot better and started to build some confidence - John Stones really settled everyone down, he's passing it well and seems calm.

We've had moments, we look threatening from set plays, we're still in the game and hopefully we'll see the subs warm up and I think we will see a few after 60 minutes.

    England 0-0 Germany

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

Germany started well, had a good chance with a free kick and then England were a little bit dominant. Timo Werner had the big chance going one-on-one against Pickford. If he puts that in we have 1-0 but we just saw in the last second a big, big chance from England to open the score.

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Germany started very, very well, really in control the first 10-15 minutes. England then upped the tempo and started to ask questions, particularly from set pieces. But so have Germany.

I think 0-0 is probably a fair result.
