Sweden... well... Emil Forsberg, really, is doing all he can to try and win the last-16 tie at Hampden Park for Sweden.

He has hit the post and bar so far, but it remains 1-1 between his country and Ukraine.

  5. 'This is what really matters'published at 21:11 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

This is what really matters. If you're in the semi-final nobody cares anymore how you did in the group stage or the round of 16. The only thing that matters is getting to the final and winning this thing'

  6. 'England need to be more confident'published at 21:09 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

England have got to be more clinical, move the ball quicker and have more confidence. Be more positive, don't be afraid to put the ball in the box. You are getting great position with the wing backs. Grealish comes on, puts the ball in the box straight away and we score.

There are spells still, where the other team absolutely dominate them.

  7. 'England have to step up a little bit more'published at 21:05 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

A win is a win and against Germany you take it. You can't get too carried away. They have got a chance. We all know that now. It's great to keep the clean sheets but if they want to win this they have got to step up a little bit more.

  8. Who next?published at 21:03 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

So, it is either Sweden or Ukraine in the last eight for England (they're currently at 1-1).

After that, in the semi-finals, it is one of Czech Republic or Denmark, who meet in Baku on Saturday.

For a lot more information on this, and the other side of the draw, we have a very thorough piece on the site, which you can read here.

England's Jack Grealish tells BBC One:

On how much he enjoyed it: "I loved it. It's always nice when the fans are calling your name but it's not about me it's about the team. I just came on and tried to create and I played a part in the first goal and got the assist for the second. It was a good performance for myself even thought when I came on I was slipping all over the place. But in the end it ended well."

On the message from Southgate when he was sent on: "He just told me to go on and express myself and play the way I usually do, with a smile on my face so I went and did that and luckily for me I created one of the goals."

On assisting Harry Kane: "This Euros has been different to many before. There's so much tactical stuff going on that it's hard for H. He's our most talked about player, our best player and it's difficult because teams are going to double up on him and try and get him out of the game. I don't think it's anyone's fault really in particular but when the game opened up at the end, as soon as Luke gave me the ball I was actually going to shoot. I was going to bring it on my left foot and shoot but I seen H in the box so I crossed it for him."

On dealing with the hype: "I love it. If you're getting talked about you're obviously doing something well so I just take it in my stride and it was an unbelievable feeling to come here today and have the fans singing my name. I've said before it's weird because I usually have these fans booing me, but when they're cheering me like this and singing my songs, there's nothing more I want to do than pay them back with goals and assists so hopefully my goal will come soon."

It was as if Gareth Southgate said when Jack Grealish comes on this is when we're going to turn the screw and shift gears. Grealish released Luke Shaw and that was when we started to look threatening.

We took our moment - the team was unbelievable.

  13. 'Grealish deserves a place'published at 20:49 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    Micah Richards
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think with Jack Grealish, it is genuine quality. Every time he plays he is occupying players. He is involved because players have to move out of the spaces that they are in.

I wish Grealish would get more time but I can't question Southgate up to now. They've got four clean sheets and they've beat Germany.

But Grealish deserves a place in the starting 11 now.

Grealish is a fan favourite. He will be wondering why he's not playing from the start. He has come on and made an impact again and now we are moving on to Rome to play Ukraine or Sweden and wondering whether he should start.

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    Karen Carney
Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

I said it all along. It is not going to be pretty with England. They have got to manage it, clean sheet mentality. Its going to be about game plan and game strategy and bringing on the subs at the right time.

What I like in interviews is that I heard a mentality. The players have a winning mentality.

  18. 'England's chemistry seems amazing'published at 20:46 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    Jurgen Klinsmann
Former Germany head coach on BBC One

You've got to keep the team right there in the moment. You've got to just live the day and prepare now the best way possible for the quarter-finals and talk about nothing else. Don't go ahead and think ok we're back here for the semi-finals, don't get carried away, but they won't. The chemistry they had tonight seems from the outside looking inside seems amazing. Everything seems to be in balance. It's your tournament.

The draw could turn out to be a huge advantage but you have to take every game at a time and win it first. All of them will be nail-biters.

  20. 'We are mugs if we think we are in the right side of the draw'published at 20:40 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    FT: England 2-0 Germany

    England

England manager Gareth Southgate talking on BBC Radio 5 Live: "I am so pleased to be able to give the fans in the stadium an incredible afternoon and I am sure millions of watchers and listeners at home. We know what the country has been through and to be able to give them a day like today and performance like that is really special.

"The players are incredible. Right the way through the team. The players that came on. They was aggressive with the pressure. We felt that was really important. That is why we changed the system, not to sit back but to be aggressive on their wing backs to make sure that all over the field we could get pressure on then.

"Then I think we used the ball better than we have done during the tournament and the pace of Raheem [Sterling] and Bukayo [Saka] was a problem all the way through.

"We knew that the tactical problems that the wing backs high causes you. If the players who are evenly matched if you give them a tactical advantage as well that is a real problem. We also felt with the ball we could cause them problems as well.

"These are the days that it's all about. We know if we pick that system and pick the players we picked and don't win the game we are dead. You have got to have the courage of your convictions I suppose that was the best way to go. I think the players really took that on board and went with it.

"Somebody just said to me that this is the first time in 50 years that we have backed up a semi final with a quarter finals. These players have to keep on writing those stories. They are having a sing in the changing room and I had to be a party pooper as usual to say 'look its great but it doesn't mean a thing if we lose on Saturday'. It is brilliant for everyone to be excited but we are mugs if we think we are in the right half of the draw and we are carried away by all of that. We have to get Saturday's game right.

"Whoever we play is going to be really difficult. We don't have our fans we have had with us the whole tournament and today would have taken a lot out of the players both physically and emotionally."
