My word, it's spine tingling hearing a full and joyful Wembley sing along to this.

It really does tap right into the very core of what being a football fan is about. An ode to disappointment wrapped up in the most catchy of packages.

Here we go. Three Lions is on at Wembley.

David Baddiel and Frank Skinner speaking about Three Lions on BBC One:
Skinner: "We're thinking of doing a song for the World Cup called 'It's coming home (again)' if we win this one. That's enough of a change I think.
"It's been lovely. The song is on its second Wembley now so we outlived the stadium. I think it's special that we're in the final but I don't buy into this that it's enough to be in a final."
Baddiel: "I think it's the first really good team (England will face), Denmark were great but this is a very good Italian side. I think we have enough to raise our game to beat them."

Can you believe we were absolutely obsessed with metatarsals once?

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
With what is at stake and how far they've come they'll try to be relaxed and smile now, but deep down they know how big this game is. When the national anthems come and the game is about to start, Italy won't be able to hide that any more and it'll be the same for the England players.

Just a quick update on my earlier message (16:13) about the threat of our first baby arriving today.... we have got to 7:15. No sign of baby but a few contractions. I am now pretty confident that even if waters break now, I can delay a hospital trip for two hours. "We should just hang on a bit. Traffic might be bad" etc. But any tips welcome. Extra time would still be a blow though.

Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BBC One
Jorginho has been talked about as one of the players of the tournament and rightly so, he has been fantastic. Pedri for the Spanish team locked onto him at all times, he is the player they try to build through.
Get against him and make sure he can't turn and play and pace the game. He is their dictator, when it goes through him they are very fluid. When he doesn't get into the game and can't find the rhythm they are a very different team.

They have been fantastic, the three at the back there are comfortable. In one-v-one situations they've been great. Walker can cheat a bit because he feels physically he can dominate any player in any situation.
I've not seen a player in world football ever that backs themselves so much in one-v-one situations, physically to cover the ground a dominate.

Former England midfielder on BBC One
When you stop those short passes, you negate a big part of Italy's play and they have to go direct. One of our biggest strengths in the tournament has been our midfield. We have such energy and aggression. You want to see contact being made. Mason Mount does this brilliantly, Kalvin Phillips has been a revelation and Declan Rice has been brilliant throughout the tournament.

England defender Kieran Trippier speaking to BBC One: "We are all calm and relaxed. We know how big an occasion it is. The fans deserve it. We are calm and relaxed and ready for the whistle to go now.
"We just want to be focused on the game. We know it will be a difficult game. We are all ready and have prepared well.
"The fans deserve all this. The support is incredible. Hopefully for another 90 minutes they can be the same.
"I'm the type of character where I'll always be ready. We've gone to a back three but no matter who starts or what formation it is, everyone will give 110%. Everyone will be ready.
"We wanted to be in the final. We're here now. We need to enjoy it and enjoy the occasion but most importantly, give it our all when the whistle goes."

Former England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live
The way that it would've been in a 4-2-3-1 formation, Mount would've been that number ten and got around Jorginho. In this case Mount will come really infield and he will deal with Jorginho from the side, he will have a very defensive role and they have to try to box people in. Gareth trusts him, he's very smart when he presses and he'll be brilliant in this role.
Italy v England (20:00 BST)
It's all about that Italy midfield for England. They need to shut it down. You would think Mason Mount will be instructed to get on Jorginho and stop him dictating. Kalvin Phillips is likely to be given Marco Verratti to look after. Like it's so easy! Declan Rice... he can do a job on Nicolo Barella. Easy this management lark!

The way we could have punished the Italians is with pace, their ageing back line isn't the quickest.. the inclusion of Trippier and moving Walker to centre back takes all our pace away (bar Sterling) - it was made for Saka, Sancho or Grealish to run at them... oh well.. super subs I guess!!

Former England striker and World Cup winner Geoff Hurst speaking on BBC One: This atmosphere is absolutely manic, because it has been 55 years, this is about 1,000 times bigger.
"Coming up the tunnel in that game, it felt like not just the stadium was there, the whole country was there and it feels like that today.
"I would tell the players, do what you have been doing, you have been magnificent so far.
"The players' lives will change, doing something like this, winning a major tournament in your own country. It's a magnificent achievement and they will be remembered forever."
