    FT: Tottenham 2-1 Middlesbrough

    Jermaine Jenas
Ex-Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder on BBC One

Spurs had the edge, but they made hard work of it in the end. They needed to get that third goal and when they didn't get that Middlesbrough got a bit more confident and threw caution to the wind.

They can walk out of here with their heads held high because it was a spirited performance. They just came up a bit short.

The 90 minutes are up and there's just three minutes of time added on.

Tottenham, though, are looking the side most likely to score as Son Heung-min just can't quite get a touch to a ball across the box with the goal gaping.

Spurs could have been out of sight but there's belief now for Boro. We waited 60 minutes before they pressed the ball, and 80 minutes for them to pass the ball, but now they're back in the match. Suddenly now everybody wants the ball.

It's a long ball down the middle and doesn't George Saville do well. He comes in on his right foot and tucks it away beautifully. We've just seen him hit one from distance with his left foot and this time it's his right. What a finish that is.

Middlesbrough are back in this with seven minutes left as a long ball from deep is flicked on to George Saville, who tucks a low effort into the bottom corner.

Paulo Gazzaniga probably should have done better but it sets things up for an exciting finale.
