    Spurs 1-1 Southampton

Spurs should be ahead! Son Heung-min bursts onto a ball down the left. His cross is perfect and lands on the head of Lucas Moura six yards out but the Brazilian somehow heads wide. Should have scored.

The pressure is relentless from Southampton. Ings and Long have caused so many problems for Alderweireld and Vertonghen. It should really be 2-1 to Southampton and I'm shocked Mourinho hasn't made a change.

Jose Mourinho has had enough. January loan signing Gedson Fernandes is getting ready.

I'm surprised Tottenham are playing the same way but the genius that is Mourinho, he will know what he said at half-time. What I can see already is there is an intent to try and build up a few more passes but that's easy said than done.

When you're under pressure, relentlessly, you're having to play the ball forward early, so it'll be interesting to see if their possession improves and if it doesn't, is Mourinho comfortable with that?

Will Southampton regret these missed chances? More brilliant football, Danny Ings dances into the box and has a shot blocked. The loose ball lands to Sofiane Boufal, who guides his shot well wide from inside the box.

First Saints chance since the break. Oriol Romeu crosses and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg finds space by shoving his marker and heads over the bar.

I suspect VAR may have disallowed it, had he scored.

The Saints - who had 61.5% of the ball in the first half - are just spraying it round midfield at the moment.

Roy Fairbairn: Sessegnon is not ready for the first team on this performance and how have we only had two shots. We need to get a grip in the second half.

    Naz: Already missing Eriksen

Southampton's James Ward-Prowse might have possible ligament damage but they can't tell until the swelling goes down.

Not long until the second half hopefully. Will Jose Mourinho make some changes - in tactics if not personnel?

Lam Bo: Are Lucas and son aware they can pass the ball when making runs?

Matt COYS: Why can’t Lucas or Son pass the ball?!?

Darren Bell: Spurs look really poor tonight. Very lethargic, no movement and poor decision making. Looks like no FA Cup this season. Hopefully they give Troy Parrott a run out.

Spurs 5-3-2 without the ball is giving a ridiculous amount of space and time to the Saints technically-gifted midfield. Poor tactics from Jose. Needs to change it in the second half.

    HT: Tottenham 1-1 Southampton

It's the execution of the final ball in the counter-attack that has let Tottenham down. You talk about Harry Winks in this team - he can't get near the ball in possession because Southampton are swarming the central areas and are making it difficult for Tottenham to control it.

Tottenham need more width but they can't do that because Sessegnon lacks a bit of knowledge as to when to go high, when to go low. I think Southampton are overwhelming him, so it's important for Mourinho to solve that, otherwise it'll be a long evening for him.

Danny Ings crosses, but nobody is in there. By the time Shane Long gets there Hugo Lloris has the ball in his arms.
