What a cup tie. It's more like a tennis match! If Tottenham had a bit more quality on their counter-attack, they could be winning the game - not by dominating it but certainly by exploiting Southampton's commitment going forward.

Another excellent Jan Bednarek challenge to stop Serge Aurier's pass from reaching Son Heung-min in the box.

Another nice Nathan Redmond turn on the edge of the box as he loses Harry Winks too easily and he smashes a shot over the bar.

It's been a brilliant half; frenetic, certainly pacey from Southampton, which is how they want to play the game. I think for Tottenham, they've got zero midfield to play through - everything's long ball and everything is counter-attack, so they have to solve that in the second half.

Excellent defending by Jan Bednarek possibly saves Southampton. Spurs find Lucas Moura in loads of space down the left but Bednarek eventually tackles him.

Now Son Heung-min takes too much time with a quick break and he's tackled.

Robbie Kahar: The goal has been coming... Been a long time for the lad to score aint it?!

Bernard Clamface: As a spurs fan I'm flabbergasted by how bad the midfield has been all season. Can't hold the ball for more than a couple of passes

Southampton have been aggressive, they have switched the play really well and they have exposed Tottenham vulnerabilities.

James Ward-Prowse is carried off on a stretcher - he gets a round of applause from Spurs fans - and Jannik Vestergaard replaces him.

Danny Ings goes over to check on Ward-Prowse. I don't think it was a head injury, but it must have been a nasty one.

James Ward-Prowse needs treatment - I think the oxygen tank is out. He's caught in a fair challenge with Ryan Sessegnon.

    Sessegnon looks a bit shaken.

We'll let you know what happens.

Richly deserved for Southampton. It's the least their players warrant after a fantastic 33 minutes. I don't know how Lloris has kept Tottenham in the game but the problem still remains for Spurs and that is: every time Southampton put the ball into wide spaces, Sessegnon in particular, just can't cope.

Still a LONG way to go but we would have extra time and penalties if this stays level.

That's Shane Long's second goal of the season - but they've both come since the new year.

Southampton fully deserve that goal. Poor keeping by Hugo Lloris though.

    Shane Long

Southampton are level! Shane Long has scored!

Sofiane Boufal finds Nathan Redmond with a good ball into the box. It's an excellent spin and shot by Redmond which Hugo Lloris parries straight into the path of Long, who slams home from eight yards out.

I think Southampton have been far the better team, certainly clearer in the way they're playing. Their shape on paper might suit the personnel but Tottenham have struggled, especially in the wing-back areas defensively.

Southampton are playing some fine football - 64.1% of the ball so far - but Sofiane Boufal's cross is headed away by Spurs youngster Japhet Tanganga.

Good play in the wide areas by Southampton - Redmond on the left-hand side coming infield and switching it again on the right-hand side to Ward-Prowse. It's just cross after cross for Southampton.

What an attacking threat Ward-Prowse is for this team. He wants to go forward at every opportunity and he's causing problems for Tottenham
