  1. 'I don't complain, it is what it is'published at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, like his opposite number, also says he accepts the date of this replay even if he does not like it.

He is also unimpressed that Spurs have to play RB Leipzig in the Champions League three days after their league return against Aston Villa.

"I don't like it. I don't like the way it is, especially because there is no attention to when you play Champions League," he said.

"It would be much more normal for us to be playing this weekend and not playing before you play against Leipzig. But no, you have a break but then you play against Aston Villa Sunday, not Saturday or Friday but Sunday.

"So they gave you 10 days of break, but then you play on the Sunday, when you then play on the Wednesday.

"So, for me, the break doesn't make any sense the way it is. But I don't complain, it is what it is."

  2. 'We have to accept it'published at 19:08 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is unhappy with the timing of this replay, but did not consider putting out a youth team like Liverpool last night against Shrewsbury.

"It's not the best but we have to accept it," said Hasenhuttl. "For us it's not as hard as teams playing in the Champions League and continuing playing three games a week all season.

"I'm not a friend of these replays, first because it minimises the chances of the smaller teams to maybe make these big miracles and go through to the next round.

"The second thing is the schedule. We were all accepting that we would have this replay in the winter break.

"Maybe next year we should think about if it is really necessary to make it exactly in this week."

  12. Postpublished at 18:32 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

This is the first season the Premier League has scheduled a winter break, albeit with a different format to leagues on the continent who take a few weeks off over Christmas.

Four Premier League matches will take place this weekend, with the other six on the following weekend.

This means that every team should have 13-16 days between games.

But Southampton's break has been cut from 14 days to 10, with Spurs cut to 11, as a result of this replay.

  13. We go againpublished at 18:27 Greenwich Mean Time 5 February 2020

    Spurs v Southampton (19:45 GMT)

It's the replay neither side wanted. Tottenham should be three days into their winter break and Southampton should be on their fourth day.

But because they drew their FA Cup fourth-round tie, the replay had to go somewhere.
