  1. 'Somebody has to beat Rangers' - Waterspublished at 19:39 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Rangers v St Mirren (19:45)

On-loan Kilmarnock defender Calum Waters thinks he knows what St Mirren have to do to spring a surprise at Ibrox after beating East of Scotland League side Broxburn Athletic on Saturday.

"Just don't get too emotionally involved with the crowd and just block them out and, when you get the ball, you've got to make the most of it as you don't get it very often and just stick to the game plan," he tells the Buddies' website.

"It's two polar opposite games. We are going to go from having 78% possession to the flip side of that, but that is how we are more often in the league - we sit off teams - so we are more used to that than we were on Saturday and we'll be prepared for the game.

"Somebody's got to beat Celtic and Rangers at some point, so why can't it be us?"

  2. 'Avdijaj can help Hearts' - Stendelpublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

Ross County v Heart of Midlothian (19:45)

Hearts manager Daniel Stendel unveils new signing Donis Avdijaj this evening, with the Kosovo forward in the starting line-up.

Stendel tells BBC Scotland: "He has shown in training he can help us. He has the quality to help us in the Scottish league.

"The performances in the last games have every time been better. We played well against Aberdeen but only got the draw. Hopefully we can get the win today.

"We are good enough to win this game."

  3. 'Celtic Park win just one game' - Barisicpublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Rangers v St Mirren (19:45)

Borna Barisic has returned to Rangers' starting line-up and the Croatia left-back has warned that Steven Gerrard's side must build on the win over leaders Celtic in the final game before the winter break.

"This was a very huge day - probably the biggest in my Rangers career," he tells Rangers TV. "It was a very important game, but we showed in the cup final against Celtic that we can be competitive this year in the league, but it's just one game.

"I am very happy that we won that game, but we have the next five or six months to work very hard to try to win every game and, in the end, to win the league."

  4. Robinson eyes new deal for Longpublished at 19:35 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Aberdeen v Motherwell (19:45)

Motherwell can shift four points clear of Aberdeen in third place with victory at Pittodrie tonight. Manager Stephen Robinson sees this game as an "opportunity to show people how good we are".

He tells BBC Radio Scotland: "We’re going to have to be at our very best to get something here.

“We’ve got players that can win matches, an organised shape about us and we try to take the game to other teams, we don’t sit back."

Asked about out-of-contract striker Christopher Long, who has scored four goals in his past two games, Robinson is positive about retaining the former Everton man.

"I'm fairly confident we'll get Christopher signed again. I've no doubt at some stage, if he fulfills the potential I think he has, he will go to a higher level," the Motherwell boss added.

"He's a good boy, he enjoys being here, and we've got a brilliant working relationship. So I'm quietly confident."

  5. Soro could arrive by weekend - Lennonpublished at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Kilmarnock v Celtic (19:45)

The news broke this afternoon that the Bnei Yehuda midfielder Ismaila Soro has passed a medical and agreed personal terms with Celtic and will make the move to Glasgow subject to a work permit.

Asked if the 21-year-old could be ready in time for Saturday's visit of Ross County, Celtic manager Neil Lennon said: "That's a possibility. We don't know the complete paperwork that's been done but we're very pleased he's passed a medical, as we expected him to do anyway."

On tonight's game, Lennon added: "We know how difficult it can be here, we know we have to get out the blocks quickly and take the game to Kilmarnock.

"We're coming here to get the three points and start putting pressure on other teams around us. It's got to be a motivation [The Old Firm defeat] for us going forward and hold on to the feeling after the game and use it in the second half of the season."

  6. 'I was expecting Shaw to leave on loan' - Rosspublished at 19:33 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Hibernian v Hamilton (19:45)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross is not surprised to lose Oli Shaw this month, but sounds a little surprised by the move.

Speaking to BBC Scotland, he said: "I always expected to lose Oli [Shaw] this month but I thought it would be on loan. I think he is at a stage in his career that he has to play regularly. I still felt like he could eventually do that here, which was why I was planning to lose him on loan, however the two clubs obviously came to an agreement in terms of an permanent transfer for him and I think Oli showed an appetite for that.

"So when that happens the goal posts change slightly. One that I expected to lose but in different circumstances. It doesn't really change anything drastically in terms of our plan but it will have a longer term affect."

  7. Shaw is 'top level' - Fergusonpublished at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

Ross County v Heart of Midlothian (19:45)

Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson is delighted his side have managed to secure the signing of Oli Shaw from Hibs, who starts on the bench this evening.

He tells BBC Scotland: "Oli is a player we've admired for a long time, even going back to the development squad at Hibs where he really caught our eye.

"We feel the amount that we've paid is really good business for Ross County. We believe he's really top level so this could be a really good stepping stone for Oli."

Shaw's signing could also open the possibility of Brian Graham moving on.

"There'll be discussion on that," said Ferguson. "A lot of clubs are interested in Brian, he's a wanted man at the moment."

  8. 'Football is my life. Hopefully it always will be' - Ricepublished at 19:30 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Hibernian v Hamilton (19:45)

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice was in no mood to talk about the charges he currently faces after breaching Scottish FA gambling rules, instead opting to confirm his commitment to managing the Lanarkshire club.

"I'm not going to speak about anything apart from football," said the Hamilton boss to BBC Scotland.

"It has never been difficult for me to concentrate on the football. Football is my life. It always has been. Hopefully it always will be. My concentration levels and my preparation have never wavered. My work rate has never changed."

Hamilton have won three of their last four games, including a 5-0 win over Edinburgh City in the Scottish Cup at the weekend and that brings a degree of confidence, according to Rice.

"I've said all season that we're not too far away," said the Hamilton manager.

"A lot of our games have had a one goal swing. Unfortunately for us it was in the opposite direction. We've won three out of four, the confidence is high and the players know their jobs. There's one thing I know that I'll get out of the players: commitment and effort. They give everything for me."

  9. McCrorie makes Livi debut, Saints' Kennedy on benchpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Livingston v St Johnstone (19:45)

Rangers loanee Robby McCrorie makes his Livingston debut in goal in place of Ryan Schofield – the Huddersfield Town loanee drops to the bench after picking up an injury on his debut.

He is one of four changes for the home side from their 3-1 win over Raith Rovers - Jack McMillan comes in for Ricki Lamie, Scott Robinson comes in for Aymen Souda, while Keaghan Jacobs replaces Craig Sibbald to mark his 300th appearance for the club.

For the visitors, they are celebrating their own 300th milestone - that's the number of times manager Tommy Wright has taken charge of the Saints.

He has made three changes to the side that beat Morton 3-0 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup - Liam Craig, Jason Holt and Michael O'Halloran are brought in for Murray Davidson, David Wotherspoon and Chris Kane.

Matty Kennedy may have committed his future to Aberdeen after signing a pre-contract, but he is on the bench for St Johnstone this evening.

  10. Three changes for Hibs, one for Acciespublished at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Hibernian v Hamilton Academical (19:45)

Hibs are without Jason Naismith and Ryan Porteous after the defenders went off with knee injuries against Dundee United on Sunday that will keep them on the sidelines for months. In their place come David Gray and Adam Jackson, while Steven Whittaker is replaced by Vykintas Slivka in midfield.

Midfielder Stephane Omeonga, who returned on loan from Genoa is on the bench, alongside Jamie Gullan who was recalled after impressing on loan at Raith Rovers.

Meanwhile, Accies boss Brian Rice has made just one change from the side that thumped Edinburgh City 5-0, with Aaron McGowan dropping out for Will Collar. The game comes too soon for Crystal Palace defender Sam Woods and fellow loan signing Luke Southwood, the goalkeeper who has returned for a second spell from Reading.

  11. Simunovic & Ajer start as Lennon changes defencepublished at 19:24 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Kilmarnock v Celtic (19:45)

Celtic manager Neil Lennon makes three changes to the side that beat Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup at the weekend. Centre-back Jozo Simunovic makes his first start since August as a replacement for the injured Nir Bitton. Kristoffer Ajer is also back from injury in defence and Greg Taylor is replaced by Johnny Hayes at left wing-back. Tom Rogic is the other man dropping out.

As for Kilmarnock, new striker Nicke Kabamba makes his first start in the only change made by manager Alex Dyer from the 6-0 victory against Queen's Park. The 26-year-old Englishman plays as Greg Kiltie drops to the bench.

  12. Flanagan among six Rangers changespublished at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2020

    Rangers v St Mirren (19:45)

As expected, Rangers return to more familiar lines after Friday's 2-0 win over Stranraer in the Scottish Cup.

One question mark was the right-back berth, where Nathan Patterson impressed in his debut as a replacement for injured captain James Tavernier, but the 18-year-old makes way for the experienced Jon Flanagan.

Allan McGregor is back in goal, Connor Goldson returns to the heart of defence, Borna Barisic at left-back, Glen Kamara is in central midfield and Ryan Kent on the wing, with Wes Foderingham, George Edmundson, Andy Halliday, Scott Arfield and Jordan Jones all dropping to the bench along with Patterson.

Jermain Defoe continues up front with Alfredo Morelos still suspended.

St Mirren make just one change from their 3-0 cup win over East of Scotland League side Broxburn Athletic.

Paul McGinn comes into defence, with midfielder Ilkay Durmus among the substitutes, which suggests a more defensive formation than they adopted in Paisley on Saturday.

Ross County v Heart of Midlothian (19:45)

New Ross County signing Oli Shaw will have to be patient before making his debut - he is left on the bench for the visit of Hearts.

Centre-half Liam Fontaine and forward Brian Graham are suspended. Midfielder Ross Draper is free from a ban but struggling with a knee injury and he doesn't make the squad either, but Don Cowie is on the bench after making a 60-minute run-out for the Staggies reserve side this week.

Harry Paton drops to the bench, with Billy McKay and Keith Watson coming in.
