  1. 'Still question marks about whether Gnabry can replace Robben & Ribery'published at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

When Serge Gnabry came to Bayern I think he knew he needed to be more professional to get his side of the deal in order to try his best to really succeed. Many people thought he was good but wouldn't be the next Robben or Ribery. There's still a question mark about whether he can get to that level but no-one is asking those questions at the moment because of how well he's playing.

Frank Lampard will be wondering which Chelsea he's going to see tonight. The one with great intensity like against Spurs on Saturday or the one who played so poorly against Manchester United on Monday. That's been the problem for the last couple of months for Chelsea.

Bayern Munich had the best Champions League group stage record in history this season - six wins and a +19 goal difference.

But none of the six teams to previously win all their group games have won the Champions League that season.

Chelsea have reached the knockout stages of the Champions League 14 times in 17 seasons - only Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona and Bayern Munich have a better record.

But Chelsea have not won in their last eight Champions League knockout games (four draws and four defeats in four two-legged ties).

They have not reached the quarter-finals since 2014.

  6. 'We want to live up to underdogs tag'published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

Chelsea v Bayen Munich (20:00 GMT)

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard talking to BT Sport: "To beat them, we've got to be at our best in all senses. Our focus has to be spot on from the first minute, our belief and work ethic too. I thought we did that fantastically against Spurs but we've got to up the level even more. We might be seen as the underdogs but we want to live up to that and show what we can do.

"We've worked a lot and talked about them and the players will hopefully understand. With top players like Robert Lewandowski things can change in a game and we need to be ready to be adapt. The players need to have huge focus."

On keeping the same team: "Sometimes you see reasons for change but the way they played and worked I thought they deserved to play again. Sometimes as a manager think you want to be creativity but you actually want some continuity as a manager but the players on the bench will be ready to come on if needed."

Bayern are much happier in all aspects since Niko Kovac left, there's more harmony in the changing room. They had problems with him and his passive style, they try and press again and kill teams in the first 10-15 minutes. This is much more like the Bayern that see themselves a real force in Europe. There's a real confidence because of the rhythm and confidence that they've found in recent weeks.

Lionel Messi has scored 12 times against Italian clubs - all at the Nou Camp.

His only goal in Italy was in the 2009 Champions League final against Manchester United at the Stadio Olimpico.

This is his first game against Napoli, who could become the 35th team he has scored against in Europe.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is backing his young players to do well tonight.

"I trust in all the players who have been part of the squad this year. They've earned trust in the way they've played.

"A big part of my job is to explain to the players that over two legs we need to be at our maximum. We need every detail, every box ticked in both games."

Bayern Munich enjoyed their last trip to London as they smashed Tottenham 7-2 in the group stages.

They are top of the Bundesliga, although in a rare actual title challenge, sitting just one point above RB Leipzig.

"Bayern are for sure a team that can win the title, when you go through their team and look at the talent and unity within it," said Blues boss Frank Lampard.

"They are top of the Bundesliga for a reason. It's a club that seems to overcome difficulties. I have huge respect for the club."

  16. 'Lewandowski isn't Bayern's only threat'published at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

Chelsea v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard says he is not concerned by Robert Lewandowski's form.

"I wouldn't say concern is the word," he said. "I think 'the form of his life' means something special with Lewandowski because of just how well he's been consistently within Europe for years.

"His goalscoring record, everything about him from a distance from afar is just top class. Then having the opportunity to watch a lot of Bayern in the build-up to this game, to look at them he shines through.

"So, of course he's going to be a huge threat, he's not going to be the only threat but he's the spearhead. They have a lot of threats in their team, so we'll have to be at our best.

"There have been games this year where we've been good. We travelled in Ajax and had a fantastic game off the ball. We've had games like that in the league this year as well, but the levels have to go up when you get to the knockout stages of the Champions League against a team like Bayern Munich. The levels have to go up everywhere."

  17. 'Lewa in form of his life'published at 19:26 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

Chelsea v Bayern Munich (20:00 GMT)

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is in the "form of his life" according to boss Hansi Flick.

He has scored 38 goals in 32 games in all competitions for Bayern this season. He has only failed to score in seven matches for the club all season.

Lewandowski scored 10 (TEN!) Champions League goals in five group games.

"He's fit and full of confidence," said Flick. "He has a real run at the moment and we hope that he will continue that here in the last 16 against Chelsea."

  20. 'Bayern would have feared Abraham's pace'published at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

Chelsea v Bayen Munich (20:00 GMT)

    Raphael Honigstein
German football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

I do think Bayern will be confident. They'll be happy that Tammy Abraham isn't playing, they would have feared this pace. They'll be happier playing against an orthodox centre forward and someone that is less mobile. Pace is where they struggle and on the counter attack.

They will be confident that over the two legs that they have enough to go through.
