Proper centre forward play from Olivier Giroud, backing in and then releasing Ross Barkley. The cross is a couple of yards away from Mason Mount at the back post, it was always going away from him.

Olivier Giroud is some hold-up man. With his back to goal and under pressure, he lays it off to Ross Barkley, who charges down the left and whips in a cross which is just beyond Mason Mount. It was almost an excellent cross but just too far for Mount.

Chelsea have got so many men behind the ball, they can't get out. I think it's OK so far from them. I think Frank Lampard will have taken this.

Poor tactics by Lampard, park the bus at home! Why is Barkley in the team is beyond me, offers nothing!

    Chelsea 0-0 Bayern Munich

An excellent 60-yard surging run from Chelsea centre-back Antonio Rudiger - but then he runs straight into Thiago and has to rush back to his proper position before Bayern can exploit it.

From the corner Olivier Giroud heads into the ground and it bounces into the arms of Manuel Neuer.

Good defending by Bayern's David Alaba - who is playing at centre-back - to get the ball out for a corner before it reaches Olivier Giroud.

It was perfect timing of the run from Mason Mount. He had three yards on Alphonso Davies but the left-back got back and saw it out for a goal kick with ease. What pace he has.

Ross Barkley has only completed one pass so far.

He is the first Englishman to make his first Champions League start in a knockout match since Ryan Bertrand in the 2012 Champions League final against Bayern.

    Napoli 0-0 Barcelona

Decent break for Napoli here but Jose Callejon's cross is deflected by Samuel Umtiti into the arms of Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Callejon should have done better there - he was in acres of space.

  12. Bayern post the warning signspublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Stamford Bridge

Bayern Munich carry a real air of menace with the threat of Robert Lewandowski and the pace of Kinglsey Coman. Chelsea have to get it spot defensively and there are already some ominous signs.

Not sure why but Willy Caballero runs just outside his box to head the ball away. He was successful though.

Really, really good movement. Frank Lampard will be fuming with one long ball. It's a big save from Willy Caballero.

You've always got to be on red alert with someone like Robert Lewandowski around. He's only had three touches so far as he chases onto a high ball into the area, but his shot is well saved by Willy Caballero who came off his line and made himself big.

    Napoli 0-0 Barcelona

Dries Mertens has a chance now for Napoli but Marc-Andre ter Stegen denies him.

Mertens is making his 33rd Champions League appearance for Napoli tonight - the most of any player for the club - overtaking Marek Hamsik.

  18. 'Warning signs for Chelsea'published at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

    Chelsea 0-0 Bayern Munich

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Danger, danger for Chelsea. Bayern won the ball back and it was a lovely touch inside from Kingsley Coman to Thomas Muller who released him. Warning signs for Chelsea, though. It was great pace from Coman.

  19. Postpublished at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 25 February 2020

Good move from Kingsley Coman but he should do better with the finish. He plays a defence-splitting one-two with Thomas Muller near the halfway line and speeds away from Chelsea's defence as he gets the return pass. Sadly his shot from the edge of the box hits the side-netting.

    Napoli 0-0 Barcelona

First chance for Barcelona as Lionel Messi plays a one-two with Frenkie de Jong and smashes a shot over the bar from 20 yards. I'm sure Napoli fans will say Diego Maradona would have scored that.
