St Johnstone are through to the last eight for the first time since winning the trophy in 2014.

Manager Tommy Wright tells BBC Sportsound: “The conditions were horrendous and our start was just as bad.

“But after that we settled into the game, got a good equaliser and even against 11 men we took control. We should have scored more goals second half.

"We can dream of winning the cup - but we need to see who we get in the draw. You only need to win five games and now we've won two of them."

Kilmarnock captain Gary Dicker: "It wasn't pretty, the conditions were up there with the worst I've played in, but we're happy to still be in the hat.

"There wasn't a lot of chances and it was going to come down to a mistake for either side to win it.

"We're confident of finishing the job at home."

Aberdeen are still in the cup, but their struggles in front of goal are keeping the pressure on manager Derek McInnes.

It's now five games - and 454 minutes - without a goal for the Pittodrie men, who couldn't break down Kilmarnock at blustery Pittodrie.

Inverness Calednian Thistle manager John Robertson: "It's a measure of this club in the Scottish Cup that people don't really see our result today as a shock. A surprise maybe, but not really a shock.

Hamilton lost 4-1 to Rangers in the day's early kick-off and Accies first team coach Guillaume Beuzelin says having to make all three substitutions early in the match affected their chances later in the game.

Aberdeen have now gone five games without scoring - and without a win - after being held by Kilmarnock at home.

In a scrappy game marred by high winds, midfielder Lewis Ferguson came closest for the home side, after a strong run down the left resulted in a superb close-range save from Laurentiu Branescu at a tight angle.

In the final minutes, Curtis Main turned in the box to volley towards goal from a free-kick carried by the wind, but it fizzed just over the bar.

Eamonn Brophy threatened for the visitors, but Joe Lewis was largely untested in the Aberdeen goal.

In a game of few chances though, the keepers - Branescu especially - were tested just as much by the wind as they were by the attackers.

The replay at Rugby Park will take place on 19 February.

That's probably a fair result on the balance of play.

It was a game where the pendulum swung back and forth from as early as the fourth minute when Ilkay Durmus' shot came back off the post.

Mark O'Hara was first to react when Vaclav Hladky saved well from Chris Long, as he put the visitors ahead after about 20 minutes.

But St Mirren always believed that they were still in the game, and though Rolando Aarons and Jermaine Hylton both looked bright once again for Motherwell, Jim Goodwin's side offered plenty going forward themselves.

Jon Obika and Alex Jakubiak both came very close to equalising, before Watford-loanee Jakubiak finally did fifteen minutes from time. It was St Mirren who finished the game stronger, but a replay on 18 February the most fitting outcome.

A late chance for the home side to break their scoreless run - Curtis Main turns in the penalty area after a cross into the box, and volleys it just over the bar.

It's John Robertson's ICT who progress to the last eight of the Scottish Cup as Sean Welsh's free-kick proves enough to end Livi's interest in the competition this year.

Having lost to Ross County in midweek, it will be an all-too-familiar feeling of dejection for Livi on the journey back to West Lothian.

The 1,000+ travelling St Johnstone fans, including Off the Ball's Stuart Cosgrove, will be pleased they made the journey after watching their heroes secure a last-eight berth.

A difficult day in the end for 10-man Ayr, who had led in the first half, but it's all about the Scottish Championship and trying to win promotion for Mark Kerr's side now.
