A goal and an assist for Mason Greenwood then, throwing down a big marker for a regular starting role in this attack.

Alexis Sanchez needn't hurry back from Milan.

Oh my gosh, what a goal. Brighton had to go for it and that has left them exposed on the counter attack.

Matic plays a beautiful ball into the path of Greenwood, who dinks it to the back post and Fernandes volleys in right footed.

Talk about counter-attacking football. It was about six seconds from when they regained it. A wonderful goal.

GOAL - Brighton 0-3 Manchester Unitedpublished at 21:24 British Summer Time 30 June 2020

    Bruno Fernandes (50 mins)

Yeah, not a bad signing is he?

What a clinical, killer counter-attack that is. Shades of the 'old' Manchester United about that one. Brighton's free kick is headed out, Nemanja Matic can turn and help it away down their left where Mason Greenwood is absolutely flying.

His ball in needs to be special and it really is, dropping perfectly over the heads of two retreating defenders to pick out Bruno Fernandes, and he batters a volley down and in past Mat Ryan.

Much better from Brighton already, started at a real tempo. Twice though they waste a good crossing position on the right wing.

Leandro Trossard and Neal Maupay are both on at half-time for Brighton. They replace Davy Propper and Tariq Lamptey, who I thought was having a good game.

Neal Maupay is warming up intensely at half-time. Brighton need to have a right go.

Simon Ngugi: Time for Leicester to start looking behind? United are three behind them, they face Everton and Arsenal next. Points dropped will be catastrophic for them and their hopes for the top 4.

Brighton need to get in and Graham Potter has to change the shape. They have to go for it with some pace like Solly March and Neal Maupay, get them on.

Manchester United have been absolutely superb and their professionalism and class has shone through.

Oh it has been a joy to watch.

Matthew Freeman: Bruno Fernandes is so positive. He either makes a positive pass or takes a defender away with clever movement. So influential in everything good United do. What a special player he is.

Greg Morter: Brighton giving too much respect to Manchester United and reflected in the 2-0 scoreline

In true Arsene Wenger style I didn't see the ball going out of play (or not) but Luke Shaw did look very close to being offside in the build up to that second Manchester United goal.

I can confirm that VAR did look at that and ruled him on, though.

VAR abandoned? Second United goal - ball clearly out and also a clear offside. Did they even look at it? Or is it just big team bias?

Right out of nowhere, a chance for Brighton! Davy Propper drifts out wide right, United are very slow to track him and he delivers a beauty of a ball to the back post.

Paul Pogba has three men in stripes on him but not one of them can make a telling touch. Just needed a firm header and surely it would have been 1-2...

Ed Woodward is up in the stands in official Manchester United mask. Of course.

United are playing some really nice stuff tonight, Marcus Rashford sliding one into the path of Anthony Martial and he needed to hit it first time but didn't.
