    Brighton 0-0 Manchester United

Bang there it is! Harry Maguire lashes a long ball out to the right, Paul Pogba rolls it into the path of Bruno Fernandes and he plants a low shot against the base of the post.

    Mat Ryan hardly saw it.

Brighton having a good little spell as Davy Propper keeps the ball moving with some fine work in midfield. United then keep it effortlessly enough though as we await our first real chance of the night.

It is a joy to watch Bruno Fernandes up so close.

Seeing him live, it is scary how he moves around the pitch and is wanting the ball. Paul Pogba is trying to get it to him and you can see why he has made the impact he has.

He waits in the pockets and is such an intelligent player.

Ah unlucky. Great pressing high up the pitch from Tariq Lamptey, he gets the ball off Nemanja Matic but referee Andre Marriner calls it a foul.

Actually, Lamptey is playing on the right of midfield with Martin Montoya behind him in a flat back four. A tweak to what we were expecting from the hosts.

    Brighton 0-0 Manchester United

Decent from Tariq Lamptey, the young Brighton full-back delivers a powerful driven cross from the right which isn't dealt with and Dale Stephens is able to slap in a rising shot from 20 yards. Always clearing the crossbar, but a good meaty connection.

Well foraged, that man. Dan Burn clears the ball away, 65-70 yards and Aaron Connolly doesn't have a team-mate within shouting distance but still manages to buy his side a free-kick.

  7. Man Utd looking sharppublished at 20:21 British Summer Time 30 June 2020

    Brighton 0-0 Man Utd

    Karen Carney
Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brighton will have to work extremely hard but Manchester United have made a good start and are looking sharp on the ball.

    Brighton 0-0 Manchester United

First attack of any real substance as Luke Shaw barrels away down the left and puts in a good cross, Anthony Martial is on the spin and if his touch was perfect he would have a clear shot on goal. But it wasn't, he didn't, and Brighton clear.

Manchester United seeing plenty of the ball, Luke Shaw is bundled into and that's a cheap free-kick.

The players all take a knee, as we have become accustomed to.

The Premier League have pointed out today, though, that its Black Lives Matter campaign is to send a message it is unacceptable to treat black people differently to others.

    Have a read.

And now here come Brighton. Is there anything more patronising than the sound of one person clapping? You'd rather come out to silence surely.

Now Harry Maguire lines up the Manchester United outfit in the bowels of the Amex. I once played 5-a-side on the site before it was a football stadium. Back when I could run. Sort of.

Aaron Mooy takes his place in the stands for tonight's game, I was about to say he doesn't look too impressed but as I started typing he broke into a broad smile.

Scored the winner against United once for Huddersfield, if memory serves.

    Rob Green

You look at how well organised Brighton are and have used the breather well.

Aaron Connolly has had an operation at the start of lockdown and came back fit.

Against Arsenal, they managed to come back from behind and could have had two wins from their first two.

I think they are a win away from staying up from the precarious position they were at the restart.

Back at the Amex the players have all gone back inside the tunnel as the Foo Fighters blare out at the prescribed volume.

I'm going to make a tea and get ready for kick-off, I recommend you do the same.

If you're just joining us and wondering why we are talking about Manchester City - they have this evening agreed to sell winger Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich.

The Germany international will join the Bundesliga champions for an initial fee of about £44.7m in a deal that could rise to £54.8m.

    Upgrade needed?

There has been a lot of talk and Manchester City's Achilles heel has been the central defence and there is a real feeling they will use the money from Leroy Sane in that position.

Does Pep Guardiola trust Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones? Fernandinho has been filling in in defence.

Jack Grealish is a player that will be talked about and if Aston Villa go down he will likely move, but how much will they want for him and how much money will clubs have to spend because of coronavirus?

Napoli's Kalidou Koulibaly is a one that has been talked about but Bournemouth's Nathan Ake is another that goes in the pot and will be attainable if the Cherries go down.

City are in the market for one, possibly two, centre-backs.

Brighton v Manchester United (20:15 BST)

Manchester United have kept seven clean sheets in their last 12 Premier League matches – as many as they managed in their first 40 under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

Will David de Gea be kept quiet again this evening? Brighton have changed shape to a sort of 5-4-1 diamond tonight.
