    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough work their way into the Millwall box but George Friend strays offside. What's he doing there anyway?

We're not really in the groove yet, still a bit scrappy. Still not really a rhythm to the game as both sides cough up possession and free-kicks.

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Ex-Lion George Saville tries to connect with Dael Fry's knock-down in the Millwall penalty area but is bumped off it by Ryan Woods and appeals for the spot kick. Middlesbrough not happy.

Millwall clear. Now a throw being wound up by the Teessiders by George Friend but the decision of a free-kick goes Millwall's way.

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Millwall attack down the Boro left and Jed Wallace has the chance to scoop a cross in but the visiting defence just soaks it up.

Gary Rowett's side looks a little more up for it.

However, Boro still a threat as Britt Assombalonga is just beaten to a ball forward by Millwall keeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

  4. CLOSE!published at 45 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Ashley Fletcher rolls a lovely ball inside the full-back as Boro surge forward and Marvin Johnson latches onto it, cutting back to Paddy McNair.

The Northern Ireland international has time and space but leaning back he just skies his shot wide of the near post.

Great chance. Millwall defence was like a group of Subbuteo men, static.

Here we go, players trooping back out into the soggy afternoon air.

Can we turn up the entertainment a bit please lads?

Obviously anyone's who's seen the 'Warnock' documentary will know of Neil's vast lexicon of profanities and his intimidating aura in the dressing room.

However, the bloke I wouldn't mess with is Ronnie Jepson. No longer making the weekends of Football League centre halves a misery, he is these days part of Warnock's Boro staff.

A hard, hard man. Referee Tim Robinson certainly felt his wrath at the half-time whistle.

    HT: Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Just seen on the stats, Millwall made 100 tackles to Boro's 38 in that half. Tells its own story.

Boro have conceded seven fouls through, to Millwall's six.

Feistiness levels were certainly creeping up before the ref's whistle and with rain making it slippy out there, I wouldn't be surprised to see some meaty challenges flying in as we go forward.

  9. Here's what's coming up...published at 15:55 British Summer Time 8 July 2020

The rain teems down in south London as the referee's half-time whistle blows and it's not been brilliant.

Neil Warnock making his feelings known to Tim Robinson about the incident with Djed Spence and Murray Wallace at the back end of the half.

Boro arguably the more threatening, Paddy McNair with their best chance. Millwall looked better towards the end of the first 45 but will need to pick up.

Difficult to tell which is the side chasing the play-offs and the one battling the drop, put it that way.

Into three minutes of added time.

Millwall got the ball into Ben Thompson, but he was unable to turn and fashion a shot, nor could Matt Smith.

They've got the ball back. Djed Spence goes down holding his face after Murray Wallace ran past him. The suggestion is Wallace just caught him.

Wallace's tap of friendship certainly not appreciated by the Londoner.

  12. Postpublished at 44 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Jed Wallace gets a shot away for Millwall, but it's a tame one for Dejan Stojanovic.

It came on the back of the Lions running aground on the Boro defence, space was shut down as Ben Thompson sought a glimpse of goal and in the end Wallace's effort was the best they could muster.

  13. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Gary Rowett is having a debate, let's say, with the Boro backroom staff after Djed Spence lost his footing in the box and nothing came of it.

Millwall move forward at the other end but are smothered out and then break on a Boro attack to win a throw deep in visitors half thanks to the persistence of Jed Wallace.

The throw in is recycled... Millwall still in possession.

Millwall striker Matt Smith might as well be having a socially distanced pint and a read of the paper at the Boro end because attack-wise, he's had little to do in the past 10 minutes or so.

    All Boro.

  15. Postpublished at 39 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Murray Wallace just shoves Djed Spence off the ball and eventually Tim Robinson blows for a free-kick.

It's sloppy, even though the Boro youngster was slaloming a path through the defence before he was halted.

Paddy McNair curls another teasing ball into the box from the set-piece but it's cleared near post and the recycle attempt by the Teessiders is an ineffective one.

  16. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

That McNair effort the best we've seen. He hit it so cleanly, it whistled towards goal.

Big Pole Bialkowski was well placed though.

Harmlessly overhit cross from Millwall's left side brings a promising situation to a halt at the other end.

  17. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Boro free-kick about 20 yards out on the left side, Paddy McNair and Britt Assombalonga stood around it.

McNair rifles from Assombalonga's tap and it takes strong fingers from Bartosz Bialkowski to tip it over the top.

The corner induces mild panic for Millwall but eventually Bialkowski gathers the ball in and the danger is averted for now.

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Boro attack, Jonny Howson's shot smacks a Millwall midriff, then Djed Spence bends a searing cross across the face of goal - it's begging to be steered home - but it evades everyone.

The delivery from wide areas proving a real threat for Boro. You sense one of them will yield something sooner or later if they keep having joy.

  19. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Ryan Shotton puts a brave block on Millwall midfielder Ben Thompson as he darted in near post to connect with Mahlon Romeo's cross from the right. Was a really good ball in.

Then Jake Cooper nodded the back-post corner across the face of goal and there were a few Boro hearts in mouths before the referee blew for a foul.

  20. Postpublished at 28 mins

    Millwall 0-0 Middlesbrough

Free-kick had a low trajectory and was dealt with satisfactorily by the Millwall defence. Hooked away convincingly by Jed Wallace.

So far, Millwall not been able to get Jed on the ball enough to have influence on the midfield. He's the main outlet.
