  3. goal

GOAL: Cardiff 1-0 Derbypublished at 20:01 British Summer Time 14 July 2020

    Junior Hoilett (17 mins)

Cardiff score a massive goal and Junior Hoilett is the man to put them in front.

Derby midfielder Jason Knight got the ball midway inside his own half and perhaps confused played the kind of pass Chris Martin would have loved at the other end to split the defence.

Hoilett said 'Thanks very much' and tucked the ball in after rounding Kelle Roos. Daft mistake and a costly one.

Lee Tomlin forces a save from Kelle Roos in the Derby goal, as Cardiff record the first real chance of the match so far.

    All over!

Middlesbrough aren't quite safe yet, but they've gone a long way to securing Championship survival today.

Patrick Roberts was their hero, scoring the winner in the closing minutes.

Looks like that decision to bring in Neil Warnock for the last few games of the season is going to pay dividends.

    Cardiff 0-0 Derby

We saw West Brom-Fulham was a cagey affair and to be fair, so is this. Two sides desperate not to 'drop the ball' so to speak.

Whoever comes away with the spoils here will take a step closer to promotion but Derby definitely need a win to keep things alive.

Derby look happy to roll that ball about, but no chances of note early doors.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Huddersfield

Huddersfield are up for it at Hillsborough by the looks of their start.

Karlan Grant put the ball in the box and Richard Stearman got a goal-bound touch which was over the top while Emile Smith-Rowe slapped a shot from 25 yards which was easily saved by Joe Wildsmith.

    Wigan 8-0 Hull

A quite astounding evening at the DW Stadium.

It's a record-breaking win for the Latics, who were seven goals up at half-time.

A hat-trick for Kieran Dowell plus goals from Kal Naismith, a Kieffer Moore brace, Jamal Lowe and Joe Williams sealed the points against a very disappointing Hull side.

It's now four straight defeats for Hull, who remain in the drop zone. It's difficult to see how they'll recover from this.

This matches the worst ever league defeat in their history.

Boro lead and take a giant leap towards Championship safety!

A low cross from the left picks out Patrick Roberts and he fires a shot into the corner from 15 yards.

A superb strike that could take Neil Warnock's side five points above the relegation zone.

Great defending from Wigan's Jamal Lowe to clear Tom Eaves' header off the line.

Wigan will no doubt want a clean sheet and that shows exactly that.

Oh and it's still just eight for Wigan as it stands.

For all of you stats fans out there... Wigan's record Football League victory is 7-0, a score they achieved at Oxford in December 2017, so they're on course to pass that mark.

Hull's record league defeat is an 8-0 loss to Wolves in 1911.

If things can't get any worse for Hull, well they just have...

Kieran Dowell has just got his hat-trick with a lovely side-footed volley.

This is now a club-record as Wigan have scored EIGHT in a single Football League match for the first time.

    What next in this game?

    Wigan 7-0 Hull

I still can't believe it as I'm typing in this scoreline.

Ok, just how do you respond to being seven goals down at half-time? Try and score a goal for your fans at the very least?

Can't remember Hull having any decent efforts in the game at all.

The Latics have been simply outstanding.

  20. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 14 July 2020

    Wigan 7-0 Hull

It's almost eight as Antonee Robinson hits one with his right peg from outside of the area but it bounces off the top of the bar.

Wigan want more and have every right to.
