    Charlton 1-2 Wigan

To remind you, Charlton sit just two points above the bottom three.

Barnsley, Luton, Hull, Birmingham and Middlesbrough fans will all have an eye on this scoreline.

  2. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 1-0 Brentford

Brentford had won eight in a row before today.

But this is the first time automatic promotion to the Premier League has been in their hands, and pressure does funny things to people.

Lee Gregory's goal has Stoke mathematically safe as it stands, while if it stays like this West Brom will merely need to win at home to QPR - who have nothing to play for - on Wednesday to go up.

And there'll be five added minutes before the break in the capital.

  4. INJURY TIMEpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 1-0 Brentford

Three minutes added on at the end of this first half.

Not much between the sides but Brentford have much work to do.

    Stoke 1-0 Brentford

The main story here is about the second automatic promotion place, but if Brentford fail to win then Leeds will be crowned champions.

What a 24 hours it would be for them - and Marcelo Bielsa's side don't even play until tomorrow!

Goodness me. I wasn't expecting that.

There was a lot of noise amongst those scattered about in the seats below me when Stoke scored - I don't think it was from Brentford.

    Now the pressure is on.

  7. goal

GOAL: Charlton 1-2 Wiganpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Kieran Dowell (40 mins)

Wigan have the lead for a second time, five minutes before the break. Antonee Robinson shows remarkable pace to race into the penalty area, down the visitors' left, and he clips over a cracking cross to Kieran Dowell at the far post and Dowell finishes clinically.

It's come slightly against the run of play but this Latics team are showing they've got resilience in spades.

  8. PENALTY APPEAL (Charlton)published at 13:10 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Charlton 1-1 Wigan

It's been pretty competitive in this one overall. Possession and chances have been fairly evenly shared, but Charlton are starting to have the better of the play.

The hosts think they should have a penalty, as Macauley Bonne is pulled down by Nathan Byrne inside the box, but nothing's given. Charlton had a very strong claim there.

  9. goal

GOAL: Stoke 1-0 Brentfordpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Lee Gregory (38 mins)

Well that sets the cat among the pigeons!

Sam Clucas has a go from outside the area and keeper David Raya can only parry the ball to Lee Gregory to tap in for Stoke.

Raya should do better but it was tough on such a slick surface - will we see some Brentford jitters now? Defeat here would put automatic promotion back in West Brom's hands, and confirm Leeds as champions.

  10. Postpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Brentford are having all of the ball but it's in front of the Stoke back line and not doing them any harm.

The Bees either need to find some magic or perhaps hope the hosts' heads and bodies tire in the second half.

Gar Wolinski: Stoke will be happy with a boring 0-0 here which will all but guarantee their Championship status next season.

Jordan Ramsden: Kinda get the feeling that Brentford need to go up this year if they're ever going to do it. Difficult to see how they'd keep their star assets otherwise.

Interesting points from both sides here.

  12. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Woah! Brentford should have a penalty.

It was tough to see in real time (which, to be fair, is all the ref has to go off) but from a free-kick Bruno Martins Indi gives Ethan Pinnock's shirt a huge tug, forcing him to the floor.

    It's a stonewall spot-kick but wasn't seen.

  13. GOOD SAVE!published at 13:02 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Charlton 1-1 Wigan

Charlton have a huge chance to go 1-0 up, as Macauley Bonne is played clean through on goal by Naby Sarr, in acres of space. Bonne sets himself to place it past David Marshall but Marshall makes the save to his right.

Brentford are controlling this game without threatening the Stoke goal too much.

Manager Thomas Frank must be quite pleased.

Don't forget, a draw will be enough to take his side into second on goal difference ahead of what could be their final game ever at Griffin Park - against a Barnsley side currently bottom of the table - on Wednesday.

And they've reached the first drinks break at The Valley, where it's been pretty lively so far in this massive game in the battle against relegation.

  16. Postpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Charlton 1-1 Wigan

Wigan had kept 10 clean sheets in their previous 11 Championship games, but the goal they've conceded in this first half was a beauty.

We've had another chance to see Alfie Doughty's volley and it's right out of the top drawer.

It may be mid-July but it's raining at the Bet365 Stadium.

Can Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma and company do it on a wet Saturday afternoon in Stoke?

Time for a drinks break for both sets of players as we're midway through the first half.

  18. Postpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Brentford are asserting themselves on this match now.

Mathias Jensen stands up a cross for Ollie Watkins but the Championship's top scorer is a little far out and his header drifts wide.

  19. CLOSE!published at 12:52 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Charlton 1-1 Wigan

Charlton almost make it 2-1 from a left-wing corner, which bounces all the way across the six-yard box and just misses the back post, and Naby Sarr heads just wide beyond the back stick.

  20. CLOSE!published at 12:50 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma link up for the first time and it so nearly leads to a goal for Brentford.

Benrahma dinks a cross to the back post but it's at an awkward height for Bryan Mbeumo, whose header is fairly comfortably saved by Adam Davies.
