    Charlton 1-1 Wigan

This game's been full of intensity so far. There's been nothing cagey about the way both teams have started.

Re: 12:37 BST - only seven goals to go then...

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Stoke have somewhat surprisingly been the brighter team in the opening 15 minutes, without really coming close to a breakthrough.

How about this from former Potters forward Jon Walters... of course he wants things to pan out for his old side but he clearly also has a soft spot for Brentford!

Brilliant equaliser. Adam Matthews pings a cracking, deep cross from the hosts' right all the way to Alfie Doughty, beyond the far post, but despite the difficult angle, Doughty volleys in first time and it's an absolutely superb finish. Great technique.

It seems we might have a very good game of football on our hands.

Today is all about Brentford and promotion but Stoke still need a point to be certain - barring an unlikely mathematical turnaround in goal difference - of safety.

It has been another turbulent season for the Potters, who were only relegated from the Premier League two seasons ago but have struggled for any kind of consistency and now have former Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill in as the third man to try to restore the club to past glories.

    Jamal Lowe (10 mins)

Wigan have the early goal and they look so confident after their 8-0 win on Tuesday.

Kal Naismith dinks over a dangerous cross from the right towards the back stick. Kieffer Moore's initial header is saved and then the ball hangs in the air for Jamal Lowe to nod in the rebound from barely a yard out.

Scott: I hope Brentford do go up, nice to see different teams get into the Premier League rather than the same old faces.

Pete: Bees fans are quietly cautious but will let rip if the boys do it. Think Leeds is good after 16 years away? How about Brentford in the top flight for the first time. C’mon you Bees!

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Rico Henry surges down the left with the ball for the first time for Brentford - his cross is cleared without fuss but it's a warning sign for Stoke.

The full-back gets up the flank tirelessly and supplies the ammo for the likes of Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma.

The first chance of this game falls Charlton's way, but Josh Davison can't quite manage to get a strong contact with his head on Jason Pearce's deep cross.

All of the past four league games at The Valley have ended in a 1-0 scoreline, with Charlton winning just one of those.

    (Cue a nine-goal thriller, right?)

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Stoke defender Bruno Martins Indi takes a hit to the face from visiting midfielder Mathias Jensen and is down receiving treatment.

With the drinks break to come we're already looking at four minutes added on at the end of this first half.

Martins Indi is back up and we're back playing.

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

Brentford are looking to win four consecutive Championship away games for the first time.

However the Bees have never before beaten Stoke in an away league match, failing to secure a victory in all 12 of their previous visits (D4 L8).

Thomas Frank's side have been faultless since the league's restart but Stoke have plenty to fight for here.

  12. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Charlton 0-0 Wigan

Slightly behind schedule, they're also now under way in the capital.

Wigan kick things off, in their blue away shirts, shorts and socks.

  13. KICK-OFFpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 18 July 2020

    Stoke 0-0 Brentford

We're off and running at the Bet365 Stadium.

Victory for Brentford would realistically put them within a point of the Premier League, while Stoke will be safe if they can win.

    Hypothetical bottom sixImage source, .

This is how the bottom six would currently look, if Wigan's 12-point penalty had already been officially enforced. As it is, the club have appealed against the verdict.

But it illustrates just how key this lunchtime's game at The Valley could turn out to be.

Meanwhile, a win for Charlton today would relegate Barnsley, unless Wigan's appeal against their points deduction proves unsuccessful.

Charlton looked set to pretty much ensure their safety as they entered stoppage time at Birmingham on Wednesday night with a 1-0 lead, but the Blues' late equaliser left the Addicks in 21st spot in the table, just two points clear of danger.

Their visitors at The Valley today are a Wigan side who appear to be flying on the pitch, but their off-field concerns give us something of an asterisk for the current standings at the bottom. Let's look at why...
