    Exeter 0-1 Northampton

Exeter's Jayden Richardson makes a decent run down the left but in the end he can't get a ball in across the box and Cobblers' Charlie Goode does well to see the ball out for a goal kick.

That was arguably City's best attacking move so far, which doesn't say a lot to be honest. They had plenty of numbers forward in the box for the first time though, which they'll be happier with.

Will we see the momentum shift after that short breather?

We have sometimes seen tides turn sharply just after drinks breaks already this summer, in the EFL and in the Premier League.

Just past the halfway mark in the first half, it's time for the first drinks break I can ever recall seeing in a Wembley play-off final.

There'll be one drinks break per half, under this summer's rules for the restart of football.

Anyone remember Stoke midfielder Rory Delap having a towel on the sidelines to dry the ball before one of his trademark long throws?

Maybe he was onto something after all.

Here at Wembley there is someone in front of me who's disinfecting the ball every time it goes out of play towards him - for health reasons, of course.

Northampton remain fully on top so far, with Sam Hoskins having a shot blocked on the edge of the area as they continue to keep the pressure on.

Moments later, Exeter keeper Jon Maxted has to rush out to get to a bouncing ball before Vadaine Oliver, and Oliver goes down with some Cobblers playing shouting for a penalty, but replays show Maxted did very well to get their first to punch the ball away. No penalty.

The last time Exeter won a play-off final at Wembley was in 2008, in what is now known as the National League.

They beat Cambridge United 1-0 and the Grecians' current manager Matt Taylor played the full 90 minutes that day - he won't be happy with how things have started for his team this evening.

Ryan Watson's goal came at the end where the Exeter City 'fans' are housed and I must say they didn't move an inch.

You could see from the celebrations though that it still meant as much to those inside the ground as it would do normally, even if there are far fewer here to enjoy it.

    Exeter 0-1 Northampton

It's all Northampton at the moment. Nicky Adams dips a free-kick from 22 yards towards the bottom corner and Exeter keeper Jon Maxted can only parry it as far as Sam Hoskins, whose effort is then tipped over by Maxted.

It's Ryan Watson's seventh goal of the season and certainly his biggest of the campaign.

Northampton strike first! Goode hurls in another long throw and Exeter's Nigel Atangana nods it away but only as far as Ryan Watson, who turns on the edge of the area and his strike takes a little deflection before nestling in the bottom corner.

A dream start for the Cobblers.

To remind you, both of these sides lost their semi-final first legs, but battled back in the seconds legs to be here tonight.

I had hoped - perhaps naively - that being in the stadium I'd be able to hear what the players and managers say really clearly.

But in reality all I can hear are the echoes of their shouts, as well as fellow members of the press typing on their keyboards and commentating on the match.

From Exeter fan and Coldplay front man Chris Martin, to a US president who apparently isn't neutral for this evening, to Cobblers-supporting basketball legend Shaquille O'Neal and comedian Alan Carr, there are some interesting faces among tonight's cardboard cut-out supporters.

The Northampton players gather for one last team huddle before kick-off.

Keith Curle's men will get this final going, any second now.

First, all the players and officials take a knee, to show their support for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Both teams now pause in silence to remember former Exeter, Northampton and Republic of Ireland defender Theo Foley, who died last week aged 83.

A popular figure at both of the clubs playing tonight, Foley also managed the Cobblers after having a spell as assistant manager to George Graham's title-winning Arsenal side in the late 1980s.

I've been lucky enough to cover several Wembley play-off finals over the last handful of years and it's normally so loud I can hardly hear myself think.

This time, it's so quiet I can make out the dulcet tones of former Stoke, Colchester and Wolves striker Chris Iwelumo doing some radio punditry.

In an attempt to make up for the lack of fans, Wembley use strobe lighting and a dramatic soundtrack to introduce the players onto the pitch - it's not the same but it builds the tension a tad.
