I can see a slight improvement from Newcastle this second half. Man City will ask the question 'can you keep the ball just like us?" And that's what Newcastle have to start doing. Saint-Maximin looks the one player who can play at this level with City. This system now will help him play a little bit more football.

Andy Carroll wins another header and barges into Aymeric Laporte at the same time. He's penalised for it but I think that's a bit harsh.

Allan Saint-Maximin is desperate for the ball. He flashes a fairly decent cross past the six-yard area.

Raheem Sterling flicks it on for Gabriel Jesus in the box but he's offside. A let off!

Wonderful effort from Mahrez. He really let rip with that shot but just couldn't keep it underneath the crossbar.

Riyad Mahrez sees Karl Darlow off his line and tries to catch him out with a long-range strike towards the top right corner.

He catches it well but it's always rising and it sneaks over the crossbar.

Newcastle are certainly pressing higher up the pitch now they have switched to a 4-5-1. It gives their midfield more licence to support Andy Carroll, who was as isolated as a polar explorer in the first half.

Benjamin Mendy's cross is scrambled away by Newcastle. David Silva then finds himself in space and sets up Mendy again but his cross is over the head of Riyad Mahrez.
