Looking at the league table, would you ever think that Manchester City had lost just as many games as Sheffield United.

    Mr Hartley, Leeds.

  3. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 19:13 British Summer Time 8 July 2020

    Sheffield United 0-0 Wolves

Joao Moutinho's free-kick is nodded away by Jack O'Connell but Ruben Neves' shot then flies way over the bar.

At the other end, a long ball is pumped up from Enda Stevens and Billy Sharp smashes it into the net but he's way offside. Won't count!

    Man City 2-0 Newcastle

Kevin de Bruyne's cross is a bit too high and long and almost hits the big video wall of fans behind the Newcastle goal.

Being on that video wall would give me serious anxiety. Worry that I'd hit the wrong button and turn my face into a potato or something.

    West Ham 0-1 Burnley

West Ham are yet to get going in this half. A win would really enable them to relax for the remainder of the season but that is looking a long way off at the moment.

Luke T: Re Matt 18:27, has Bruce really had much more spend than Rafa? Under Rafa Newcastle year 1 spent £60m, y2 spent £42m, y3 spent £54m. £23m net spend in year 2. Under Bruce they've spent £65m - after selling their best player to Leicester for £30m. Not worlds apart.

    Sitter!

Phil Foden has just missed an even easier chance than his earlier one as Kevin de Bruyne's lofted ball falls kindly for the youngster but he sweeps wide of the far post with the goal at his mercy.

Jay Rodriguez is class. Been unlucky with injuries, could have been a regular for top 6/7 club.

    Matt, Bristol

The hammers' poor finishing is hardly Moyes's fault - players have to take responsibility too

Think Steve Bruce wrote this game off before a ball was kicked, no point playing your best player's if that's the case. Personally I'd still rather get hammered having a go !

    Barry from Hartlepool.

City in control at half time, making ground on Liverpool. Just 20 points in it now!

    West Ham 0-1 Burnley

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

West Ham have been good but Burnley have defended ever so well.

Burnley now have something to hold on to so they'll be playing counter-attacking football and they have players on the bench to help them with that.

David Moyes will be disappointed with the score, but he has Sebastien Haller to call upon from the bench yet.

  19. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 8 July 2020

Not much to shout about at Bramall Lane. A few chances towards the end of the half for Wolves but it's pretty tight!

It's pinged over to Joao Moutinho in the middle and he hits it first time but he's a long way out and doesn't catch it properly. It bobbles safely into Dean Henderson's arms.
