    FT: England 0-1 Denmark

Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

England were in a goal glut last year, but against sides that aren't at the level of this Danish side which is extremely streetwise. While it is a massive disappointment, no doubt about it, the reason they lost the game was because Harry Maguire had a couple of mad moments.

Gareth Southgate will be there to be shot at because he's been in poor form this season, but I understand both sides of it.

Initial selection was terrible, admittedly nothing that Southgate can do about the horror show from Maguire, but he didn't adapt to the situation at all and just made straight swaps. With the talent we have in midfield and upfront we should be playing the ball about not booting it long. Please enquire about Eddie Howe.

I'm not going to say it was the worse ever performance - it's not easy to perform with 10 men. These things do happen. After the highs of the victory against Belgium, it's a low but it wasn't an absolute disaster.

  5. RED CARD - Reece Jamespublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    England 0-1 Denmark

Confirmed. Reece James was shown a red after the full-time whistle. It looks like Jordan Henderson was trying to calm him down and he said something to the referee.

Some of the best attackers in world football and the only goal we've scored across 3 games v Denmark (twice) and Iceland was a last minute penalty. Sort it out England.

England were playing pretty well until Harry Maguire got sent off and then it compounded by a ridiculous penalty award, in my view. Then it's perfect for Denmark, they are not the most attacking side, they are extremely patient.

Looks like it was Reece James who got the red card at the end. Maybe knock a peg off his ratings then...

The Harry Maguire moment in the first half was the big moment in the game. England were hard done by for the penalty. They did create opportunities in the second half but didn't take them.

It's been a bad night for Gareth Southgate and his England team.

Jordan Pickford takes a free-kick for England and doesn't even beat the first defender. Kalvin Phillips has to leg it back to make sure there isn't a break on.

    Sums up the night.

It's brilliant instinctive defending from Simon Kjaer - that was heading in. That's as good as a goal.

    England 0-1 Denmark

Harry Kane keeps the ball in play on the far side of the box and turns sharply, before chopping a decent cross back into the area.

Conor Coady is at the back post to head it but it's cleared off the line by Simon Kjaer. It may have been going just wide but if not, that's top defending!

It's very scrappy now. England are hitting it long as they see the board show three minutes of added time.

Denmark are winding down the clock. It's Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg who's off. On comes Mathias Jensen.

Kalvin Phillips is in the book now too. Yussuf Poulsen brings down Harry Kane and the Leeds man comes in sharply to get the ball. It was a little unnecessary but Poulsen has made a West End show of it.

  20. France lead againpublished at 21:29 British Summer Time 14 October 2020

    Croatia 1-2 France

    France

France showing just why they are world champions.

Didier Deschamps' side hit back to take the lead once more against Croatia, Kylian Mbappe slotting in from Lucas Digne's brilliantly volleyed cross from the left.

Just under 10 minutes left in that one.
