    England 4-0 Iceland

Phil Foden is the youngest player in the history of the England national team to score more than once in a match at Wembley.

If you want to feel old, Billie Piper was number one when he was born in May 2000.

Should be five - Phil Foden turns creator as he bends in a fine cross and Bukayo Saka heads wide.

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

The biggest thing that Jack Grealish has done is shown his attitude and shown that he is a player that can fit into Gareth Southgate's squad. I think that is something he had to do and he's done that.

Hats off to him for the way he's played and conducting himself. He's had to be patient even though he's been in brilliant form but he's certainly got one foot in the door.

  4. Postpublished at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2020

Isn't it absolute lunacy that Andy Cole scored once for England? They had some serious firepower in the 90s.

  5. 'Super strike'published at 21:31 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2020

    England 4-0 Iceland

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Super strike wasn't it! Phil Foden is getting congratulated by his team-mates and quite rightly so. Brilliant strike from the young man on his left foot. Lovely strike and the keeper had no chance.

Tom Castle: I imagine David Beckham would have enjoyed playing in a squad with Grealish. Think of the free kick opportunities.

Andrew Morris: That's a fantastic move by England right there. Future is definitely bright if Southgate can sort out his best 11 & make the right moves in-game England could get to the sharp end of most tournaments. Enough timidity!

Southgate clearly doesn't understand how to get the best from Kane. It's obvious that he's thrived this season at Spurs with pace around him and yet for England Southgate persists with a pedestrian midfield.

  8. goal

GOAL - England 4-0 Icelandpublished at 21:29 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2020

    Phil Foden (85 mins)

Well you have to say that's nothing short of superb! What a hit that is!

Phil Foden on a hat-trick after taking the ball from Harry Winks and hitting a smashing shot, left-footed, from about 22 yards which absolutely nails into the bottom corner.

  9. 'Sancho and Saka did well'published at 21:28 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2020

    England 3-0 Iceland

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

We were talking about the impact Jadon Sancho was having on games and the belief that he has in himself to hurt defenders and take people on. It's a brilliant little one-two with Saka, he really unselfishly offloads the ball to Phil Foden who's waiting there and takes it calmly.. But it's all about the little connection and one-two with Sancho and Saka.

  10. Postpublished at 83 mins

    England 3-0 Iceland

Phil Foden now has as many England goals as Wes Brown, David Nugent and Andy Cole.

  11. goal

GOAL - England 3-0 Icelandpublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 18 November 2020

    Phil Foden (80 mins)

A really nice goal! Phil Foden's first for England and he takes it beautifully.

England's left-hand side has been the danger all night and after Bukayo Saka plays it inside to Jadon Sancho, he slots it over one more to Foden, who buries a left-footed shot into the far corner.

  12. Postpublished at 78 mins

    England 2-0 Iceland

England are still up at 80% possession. They have had 18 shots on goal but only hit the target once since half time.

    Good enough?

The impressive again Jack Grealish comes off as Jadon Sancho gets a runout, while Harry Kane leaves without a goal and Tammy Abraham is on.

  14. Postpublished at 74 mins

    England 2-0 Iceland

Harry Kane lines up a free-kick and puts it into the wall - he wants handball given but he's waved away. VAR may have given that!

    England 2-0 Iceland

Jack Grealish gets a right kicking every week and there's another one as skipper Kari Arnason leaves one on his calves. In the book for you.

    England 2-0 Iceland

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Harry Kane looks like he really wants that goal. It's almost like he can't settle unless he gets this goal, chalks one up and then he can move forward. He really does look hungry for it this evening.

    England 2-0 Iceland

    Matthew Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Mason Mount has shown his versatility tonight. He can play slightly different roles in and around the middle of the park or just wide. Another good performance, another goal and another opportunity to hammer home to Gareth Southgate the reason he should be in the team because he keeps coming up with the good.
