    St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

A very strange foul is signalled by referee John Beaton as Jamie McCart dives in at about waist height as Christian Doidge controls the ball well with his outstretched foot and catches the St Johnstone defender in the process. The Hibs striker is totally perplexed as he is deemed to have committed an offence.

    Quote Message

Hibs look sluggish and a little bit tired in this second half. That energy has not been there and that's why Jack Ross is making changes

  3. More changes for Hibspublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

Hibs manager Jack Ross has seen enough as he makes a double change, his fourth of the game.

Melker Hallberg and Jamie Gullan are sent on to replace Joe Newell and Josh Doig.

The visitors will probably go with a back three for the remainder of the match.

  4. Postpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

St Johnstone midfielder Liam Craig has a lash at goal from 22 yards but it was always swerving off target.

  5. Postpublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

Can Hibs hold on for the 20 or so remaining minutes? The visitors are going through a wretched patch, barely able to hold on to the ball for more than a couple of passes.

    St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

    Billy Dodds
    Former Scotland striker on Sportsound

    Quote Message

Since the St Johnstone's game against Kilmarnock Michael O'Halloran has been excellent with his attitude to work. He showed it on Thursday night against Aberdeen as well

Allan had been booked just before his withdrawal for a lazy kick at Liam Craig, who has been his shadow all afternoon

    FT: Aberdeen 2-1 Livingston

"The important thing was to get another three points," McInnes told BBC Scotland. "We got over the line, which was the most important thing.

"We scored two very good goals, should've had another one.

"Marley Watkins had a very good debut throughout. Ross McCrorie was excellent for us."

  12. YELLOW CARDpublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

Moments after Scott Allan is caught on the calf by Liam Craig, Callum Hendry has a daft kick at Joe Newell. St Johnstone need to channel their anger in a more productive way than that.

  15. Strong start to second half from Saintspublished at 17:37 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

St Johnstone centre-half Jason Kerr bounds forward and gets in behind the Hibs defence to drill a fantastic ball across goal. All it needs is a touch but no player in blue can get there.

Soon after, Danny McNamara hammers in a rising shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Ofir Marciano gets a fingertip on it, although it looks like it was just going over.

Great start from the home side.

We're up and running again and Christian Doidge is right in the thick of the action as the Hibs striker clashes heads with Liam Gordon. A sore one, but both men are back on their feet without much fuss.

  17. Can Boyle find a breakthrough for Hibs?published at 17:32 British Summer Time 23 August 2020

    HT: St Johnstone 0-0 Hibernian

The average position graphic from our friends at Opta shows us Martin Boyle has been Hibs' most advanced player so far, with Christian Doidge often dropping a bit deeper to link play.

Manager Jack Ross will want to see some a lot more end product from his forward players in the second half.

    FT: Aberdeen 2-1 Livingston

Livingston head coach Gary Holt is upset at his team's defending after their defeat by Aberdeen and suspects Livi should also have had a penalty at Pittodrie.

"I'm angry," he told BBC Scotland. "We played so well in large spells of the game but if you give a team an opportunity to go two goals up, you're fighting an uphill struggle.

    "I think there's a handball where we should've had a penalty."
