    Brighton 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea haven't blown Brighton away, or anyone watching away, so far. When you think they've got Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic to slot in as well they're not short of attacking options.

But they've had just the one shot on target.

That was Adam Lallana at his very best, driving with the ball and releasing Neal Maupay.

Chelsea are on the edge at the back - now Adam Lallana plays in Neal Maupay into a huge amount of space and Marcos Alonso just about stops him legally.

Those defensive gremlins are still about.

    Brighton 0-1 Chelsea

Apart from giving away the ball in the build-up to the penalty, Steven Alzate has been bright for Brighton and the midfielder now weaves into space and laces a shot which makes Kepa make the save. Decent strike.

From the corner Kepa comes and just wafts a glove in the vague direction of the ball.

Nowhere near it. Gets away with it.

Megs! Lovely from Tariq Lamptey who slips it through the legs of Marcos Alonso. He's had a cracking start, Brighton's ex-Chelsea full-back.

I think Brighton have actually been the better side. They had that one grave error which Chelsea made them pay for. Maybe the goal will give Chelsea that lift.

Pace. Movement. Threat. Timo Werner providing everything Chelsea's manager had in mind when he bought him from RB Leipzig.

And he is right on the look-out for a goal as well. Very impressive start.

Tariq Lamptey is now down and in pain after a heavy landing, it looked like a shoulder problem but actually he's going to be fine. As you were.

What a ball this is from Tariq Lamptey! It's first-time and he whips it in. What a ball but what a miss from Neal Maupay! He just totally mistimes the jump and the connection. He needs to be gobbling up chances like that.

  11. 'The boys never gave in'published at 20:42 British Summer Time 14 September 2020

    Sheffield United 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, speaking to Match of the Day: "It was not the start we expected or wanted to a team of the quality of Wolves it is a difficult position to recover from.

"We look at our mistakes in the build up to the goals but we stuck at the game, got a foothold in it and took it forward in the second half.

"We hit the post and to get back into it in the second half would have been interesting for us.

The boys never gave in. To be 2-0 down in the first six minutes it seems like it will be a long, long night but I enjoyed the way my team stuck to their task.

"We were not as fluid and we need to tidy up in terms of possession on the pitch but the Premier League is unforgiving, we are hurting but we will analyse and move on to the next game.

"People talk about team spirit but this is when it gets tested - on nights like this. It doesn't surprise me that we didn't turn it but we have to get the balance right with the attitude and the character we showed but also quality.

"We got into some good positions in the second half and kept asking the question but we couldn't find that last little bit."

Chance again for Brighton as Tariq Lamptey floats in a dream cross, Neal Maupay is between two defenders but can't time his header and it hits his shoulder and loops tamely at Kepa.

Glenn Murray would have buried that.

Well, that is who he plays for. Sharp response from Brighton as they work an opening for Steven Alzate, whose shot is blocked.

And Chelsea then find Timo Werner running in behind yet again, and his shot is blocked.

Werner is an absolute nightmare to play against. Like a younger Jamie Vardy.

A really good penalty from Jorginho. A hop, skip and a jump and sends Mat Ryan the wrong way. Chelsea barely deserve it.

Disaster! Brighton give the ball away really sloppily and one pass is enough to send Timo Werner in on goal. He's always going to reach the ball first and Brighton keeper Mat Ryan can only mow him down.

That was a really good move. Brighton have been the slicker team. That was a lovely one-touch pass into Leandro Trossard. It was actually switched on defending from Jorginho.

Cracking move, from Brighton, as Leandro Trossard and Steven Alzate work a nice combination on the corner of the box but the cutback is well cleared.

Mason Mount finds Timo Werner whose flick on is cleared and that's the best I can offer you at the moment. We are yet to see either keeper tested.
