  1. 'We gave ourselves a mountain to climb'published at 20:33 British Summer Time 14 September 2020

    Sheffield United 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, speaking to Match of the Day: "We gave them a two-goal lead and from there it is a mountain to climb.

"Wolves are a top team, they have top attackers. We know they are quick and they play on the counter especially away from home.

"The first goal we can maybe stop at the source and the second goal was a free header from a corner.

"We will have a look and I will be the first to hold my hands up if I could do better in defence but two goals and as I say, a mountain to climb."

    Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

Chelsea look a bit ragged defending a corner but the ball flashes across goal without any real danger behind it.

It's, well, a bit boring so far to be honest.

  3. Early sparring at Brightonpublished at 20:30 British Summer Time 14 September 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The Amex Stadium

Lots of sound but not much fury at Brighton. All a bit rusty early on although Chelsea new boy Timo Werner is already using his pace in behind Brighton but they have stayed alert and caught him offside.

Nice Ben White! He brings the ball out and even throws in a nutmeg on his way down the wing.

    Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

Promising early signs from Kai Havertz as he times a run from deep superbly, Mason Mount's clipped pass over the top is just half a yard too strong though. Havertz can play anywhere in midfield or even as a striker but he's playing to the right of Timo Werner so far tonight.

The ambition is to go on and win big trophies and that's certainly what Chelsea have in those forward areas now. They haven't really got started yet though. It's very early but Brighton seem a little bit sharper.

    Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

Timo Werner is going to keep the linesman busy tonight - he's in behind again but again he's offside. You only have to beat the system once though...

  8. 'They had a go, that is enough for me'published at 20:22 British Summer Time 14 September 2020

    Sheffield United 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, speaking to Sky Sports: "We needed a bit of a break. Chances are at a premium in the Premier League. To recover from as poor a start as I can remember here against Wolves it was always going to be a tough ask.

"I know what I have got in my training room, they don't go under and they didn't. They made a game of it. We knew Wolves would be a danger on the counter and we had to take risks. We gave it a right go, we got into the right positions and when you do you have to find that little bit but I felt we just didn't find that.

"For 85 minutes it is nip and tuck, but it isn't an 85 minute game is it? We have to move on. It hurts, of course it does, we didn't want to get off to this start but the thing we have learned in the Premier League is that you have to get over disappointment quickly.

"They know they have had a go, I know they have had a go and that is good enough for me."

    Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

Have a dig! Adam Webster brings the ball out of defence and just has a big old swing at it, firing a 30-yarder well over the bar.

Kepa is in goal for Chelsea, for now.

  10. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Chelsea

Timo Werner gets in behind the Brighton defence with a sharp spin down the right and his cross is nearly met on the slide by Kai Havertz.

Ah, the flag then goes up as is the new way.

  12. 'We can create something special'published at 20:17 British Summer Time 14 September 2020

    Sheffield United 0-2 Wolverhampton Wanderers

    Wolves

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, speaking to Match of the Day about Raul Jimenez: "He is a talent, but it goes beyond that, what he gives to the team and the way he works.

"This was the first match that we had, a quick turnaround. Very pleased. The identity of the players, the character, the ways they worked, the resilience at the end - it is very difficult.

On his new contract: "It has been an amazing three seasons. I think we can create something really special. The identity, the core of the squad. We have to stay humble.

"Now I have to prepare the training session for tomorrow because we play Stoke in the League Cup, we go day by day."

    Warren Aspinall

To get a result, Brighton have to be positive in the final third. Don't show them too much respect.

Yes, they are world class players, but we need to get in their faces, and show good energy levels.

The fact Frank Lampard has spent big money in the summer, shows that he has options now. That's what he always wanted when he came in. He has developed players like Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham and now he's brought in big guns to challenge them and take them up another level.

If what I heard from Leeds fans is right then I'm expecting Ben White to basically reinvent defending in front of my very eyes here.

Timo Werner scored 78 goals in 127 Bundesliga appearances for RB Leipzig. In Werner's four seasons at Leipzig only Robert Lewandowski (115) netted as many BL goals.

How will he get on in the Premier League? Absolutely fine, I expect.
