Wolves captain Conor Coady, speaking to Match of the Day: "Huge result for us. It was important we had a game plan and stuck to it and we got the early goals.

"The first game of the season is always tough, Sheffield United first game away you look at that and know it will be tough. Second half we dug in, we stopped the ball coming through us."

On Raul Jimenez: "Everybody looks at his goals and his goal involvement. He is an incredible finisher but more importantly he is an incredible person and fantastic to work with."

On winning after making England debut: "Amazing. It is absolutely incredible. It is of huge pride to play for my country but I am back now to help this team move forward and improve."

On importance of boss Nuno after he signed a new contract: "Massive. When you see how he works with us in and around the training ground. He is a fantastic manager."

Chelsea

This is the third time Chelsea are starting a Premier League campaign on a Monday, with the Blues going on to win the title on the previous two occasions in 2014-15 and 2016-17.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, speaking to Sky Sports, on his new signings: "We must give them time. They are really talented lads and have shown they are great characters and shown they are good teammates already.

"I expect their quality to come through but I don't want people to expect loads tonight. Quietly, I sort of do...

"The fact we do have some new players in the squad means we do have to work. I'd like to see that the steps we have made this week have hit home. It's a very interesting one for us."

Kyle: As good a side as Wolves are, and they are an excellent side now, they have done so well to keep hold of Raul Jimenez. I'm surprised neither Manchester United or Chelsea have tried to sign him. Fantastic player he is.

Huge three points for Wolves. What was impressive was the start given the amount of time they have had together and the lack of training time. It was clinical. Raul Jimenez was exceptional in the first half. Sheffield United got hold of it slightly in the second period but ultimately, they didn't have that cutting edge and weren't clinical enough.

Nope - and Wolves start their season with a mighty fine win.

Corner for the home side. Can they at least get one?

Off the line! Sander Berge's cross from the right is a beauty, Oli McBurnie heads it across goal and it beats the keeper but not Romain Saiss, who gets back to head away.

Not your day today, Blades.

There's been flair and quality all over the pitch but mostly, the defending has been excellent from Wolves.

David McGoldrick miscues a cross straight at Rui Patricio and that should be that.

Another debut for Wolves as Vitinha comes on for Joao Moutinho.

Raul Jimenez then runs off Oli McBurnie to head the corner against the post.

United's defending from corners has been abysmal.

I don't know how he does this. There was no room left on the touchline. It's brilliant play and then he's off, driving into the space across the penalty area. Wonderful run!

That's very nearly genius from Adama Traore! A clearance looks to be going out of play but his pace enables him to get there and keep it in, he then skips inside the defender who gets too tight and he's running in on goal. He hurdles another challenge and then hits a low shot - which deflects just wide.

That was brilliant!
