It's a pretty poor standard at the moment. Both sides trying to keep it, but both sides squeezing really well and both sides making mistakes. All the game is being played in the middle third of the pitch.

Chelsea at this moment in time don't really count as being a team above Liverpool....on GD by 1 goal!!! They're level on points after 1 game!

The Scot earns a corner which he takes himself, but it is cleared by Kai Havertz.

Looks like a 4-3-3 from both sides, but both attacks are very fluid.

Both sets of defenders will have to keep their wits about them.

If this game is half as entertaining as the 5-3 Liverpool win over Chelsea at Anfield in late July then we are in for a treat. On the evidence of their first league games of the season there is certainly every reason to expect another haul of goals.

Chelsea's options in attacking midfield positions are frightening - Timo Werner must be licking his lips at the prospect of so much creativity around him. Whether they are stronger defensively and in goal this season remains to be seen.

A game against the reigning champions is always a useful yardstick, and Chelsea should consider themselves title contenders this season. They will also want to improve on a record of just two wins and five defeats in their last 10 Premier League home games against Liverpool.

Hug and a handshake from the two managers before kick-off.

Nice smiles as well, Frank patting Jurgen on the back as he made his way to his seat.

We'll see how that one develops during the game.

  15. 'There is no rivalry'published at 16:27 British Summer Time 20 September 2020

    Chelsea v Liverpool (16:30 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "There is no rivalry, you should stop reading newspapers. When I heard about this kind of thing I don't get that.

"You create rivalry between Frank Lampard and me. Why? We meet two or three times a year. I respect a lot what he is doing. He is probably a really nice guy, but I don't know because I don't know him in private, like he doesn't know me in private.

"On the sidelines we are sometimes emotional and animated and we may say a few words and a few minutes later we wish we hadn't said it. That's how life is. That's how football is. But there is nothing more than that.

"I heard some people said they would be happy if there was an old rivalry again like it was between Arsene (Wenger) and Alex Ferguson. I don't think the world needs any stories about these kinds of things. I can't help with the rivalry. I have no problem whatsoever."

We asked you who would make your combined XI between Chelsea and Liverpool and there were some close calls.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk made 96% of your teams, with Alisson, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold also in more than 90% of them.

There are some very good players on this pitch and they will all have to bring their 'A game' to get a result.

Kai Havertz is a good six foot four (inches tall). He is very slight but also very athletic. With his movement and his power will Chelsea go into him. We always ask 'how do you stop Liverpool?' but Liverpool have questions to answer as well.
