    Paris St-Germain 1-0 Manchester City

PSG continue to threaten as a ball in behind nearly sets Kylian Mbappe away, he's forced wide but tees up Mitchel Bakker whose shot is blocked. Angel di Maria then runs away from Manchester, not for the first time, and finds Neymar but the chance is gone

PSG feel on the precipice of a second goal.

  2. CLOSE!published at 33 mins

    Paris St-Germain 1-0 Manchester City

The first time Phil Foden really wriggles clear on that left-hand side and it's half a chance - Foden stands up a telling cross, Riyad Mahrez nods across goal and Bernardo Silva is close to meeeting it for a nod in but Leandro Paredes hooks it out with an admittedly high foot.

Much better from City though as they forced the error in the first place.

Manchester City did start brightly but PSG seemed to have sussed that false number nine out very quickly.

It would give Kevin de Bruyne more freedom if he was to drop back into the midfield and stick somebody up who is a normal number nine and can occupy the centre-half.

That will then allow De Bruyne to drop back into those little pockets where you want him to be.

A real lunge, borne of frustration from Joao Cancelo as he flies into Kylian Mbappe on the halfway line. Needless and daft. Stock booking.

It's not been a great season to be a Spurs supporter. Seeing Poch win the Champions League with PSG would be a strange bitter sweet moment but I for one am hoping he does it.

    Trevor, Spurs supporter, Surrey

Early observation, Foden is playing too far advanced (what happens without an out and out number 9), so he's less effective and less involved as it takes longer for it to get up to him. Gonna call it now, Pep has got the shape wrong

Oh what a chance! City are having all sorts of issues from these corners, this time from the other side as Neymar bends it in and Leandro Paredes heads over the top. That was very close.

After 25 minutes, I was expected more from this game.

Yes, we've seen a goal from a set-piece but for now, the two sides are just cancelling each other out.

PSG have been a bit more direct at breaking. They want to run with the ball and take it on - but there hasn't been a lot of chances.

Pep himself said if they don't win tonight questions will be asked about his team selection. It's very hard to even really explain. Rodri is deep in midfield, Ilkay Gundogan is in the middle just ahead of him, Riyad Mahrez is high on the right and the rest are just going wherever.

PSG bend in another dangerous corner and Ederson fists it away this time.

Liz Tray: We're playing some nice stuff, but there is no goal threat at all. PSG can score whenever they want. At some point one of our players has to actually run into the box or put the ball in there.

Lovenish: I have doubts about the Man City's central defence. Neither Stones nor Dias has the experience of playing at the semi-finals stage of the Champions League.

Scott: Neymar is back to his best.

Gueye, Kante and Casemiro. It's been a good midweek for the more destructive midfielder so far.

When you look at Man City, you want Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden on the ball but we haven't seen them on the ball yet.

Riyad Mahrez has been on the ball quite a lot and has done OK with it, but the main players who are in form just haven't performed so far.

There's some lovely football going on out there. Idrissa Gueye is at the heart of a lot of it, as he gets out of the City press with some neat lay-offs and flicks.

  16. CLOSE!published at 21 mins

It's unorthodox but it's nearly the leveller - Joao Cancelo casts a spell from deep with a belting, disguised pass to the back post, it looks too strong for Bernardo Silva but he improvises a hooked volley on the stretch and Keylor Navas has to push it away from the foot of his near post.

Manchester City have had enough of the ball to create some chances. They started off well in the first couple of minutes but PSG have warmed into the game. They are slowly taking control now.

Kevin de Bruyne is getting on the ball in good areas and his cross is well cleared - he only had Phil Foden to aim at though.

Marquinhos has scored five goals in his last 12 Champions League appearances.

He is the first defender to score three Champions League goals in one season since Nico Tagliafico for Ajax in 2018-19.

I'm no fan of zonal marking, far from it, but I've always presumed that you only notice it when it doesn't work and not when it does.

It categorically did not work there though. Marquinhos' movement was smart, the whipped ball in was perfect and City are up against it now.
