Paul Carney: No surprise Sterling is benched tonight. He has fallen down the pecking order for the really big games.

Paul Collins: Champions League semi-final and City don't start a striker. If it comes off then fine but if City do somehow lose, then Guardiola should be getting questions asked of him. It's arrogant to assume it will work in a big Champions League game just because it had in Premier League in the past.

I thought last night was going to be cagey but the first half was excellent. Let's have a proper classic tonight - 3-3?

It's definitely going to be a cagey game tonight. People say if Manchester City get a draw here, then they are in the driving seat - but they're not.

You can have all the big players on display but it doesn't work like that. There are no crowds in the stadiums at the moment, so if it's 0-0 or 1-1, I don't think either side will be bothered by that going into the return game.

Last season PSG became the fifth French team to reach the European Cup final, after Reims (1956, 1959), St-Étienne (1976), Marseille (1991, 1993) and Monaco (2004).

Of those, only Marseille, in the inaugural Champions League final in 1993, lifted the trophy.

There will be a lot of nerves tonight. Both sides are desperate to win this prize and have invested heavily in it.

Paris Saint-Germain got to the final last year and now want to go a step further.

Manchester City have underachieved in this competition.

It's a big one but... it's not won tonight.

PSG or City could become the 23rd side to win the European Cup, and the first new name on the trophy since Chelsea's 2012 triumph.

  14. 'Sterling is missing a goal'published at 19:00 British Summer Time 28 April 2021

    Paris St-Germain v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

    Micah Richards
    Former Man City defender

The only thing Raheem Sterling is missing at the moment is a goal - he hasn't scored for his club since he got the winner against Arsenal on 21 February - but he was very unlucky not to put that right against Spurs at Wembley. He did not look to me like a player who is short of confidence in goalscoring situations.

He came over to the left side a lot against Tottenham but he is one of the best players I have ever seen at running inside, and knowing when to arrive at the right position and moment to score.

It's his trademark, isn't it? He has got a great anticipation of where the ball is going to be inside the area, and then makes that little burst of acceleration to get there.

It seems easy, but it's actually very special that he keeps on doing it. He might miss a few but he scores a heck of a lot more.

  15. 'The perception of PSG is changing'published at 18:58 British Summer Time 28 April 2021

    Paris St-Germain v Manchester City (20:00 BST)

    Julien Laurens
French football expert on BBC Radio 5 live

There was always the debate about old money and new money.

But I do think if you watch Kylian Mbappe and Neymar play, especially the Neymar from those two games against Bayern, you see the team spirit, the fighting spirit that they have.

Mauricio Pochettino is a very likeable coach as well. That has helped too.

As well as trying to cement their status and belong there with the top, top clubs, maybe PSG are being liked a bit more and people enjoy watching them. They are so entertaining.

Within the club they have a feeling the perception of them is changing outside of Paris and France even.

    Real Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel says his side will have to "fight for every centimetre" when they host Real Madrid in their Champions League semi-final second leg next week.

The Blues secured a potentially important away goal as they drew 1-1 in Madrid in the first leg.

But Tuchel knows there is plenty more work to do if they are to reach a first final since winning in 2012.

"Even if we had won here, everything is possible," he said.

"It's half-time and we'll have to fight for every centimetre and every advantage that we want to have and we need to fight and deserve it."
