Fair play to Pep, he's really learnt from their past UCL exits and properly setting his team up to defend a lead now. So disciplined and hard to break down.

Hasan: Without a doubt Riyad Mahrez is the best African player to grace the Premier League. What a player.

More handbags. Neymar shoves Bernardo Silva after a little trip from the latter.

Players come flooding in, requiring the ref to exert some authority. So unnecessary.

Considering the way this first half has gone, the selection of Fernandinho makes sense. His positional play is excellent, his ability to snuff out danger invaluable.

The organisation and team shape of Man City is very good. They're going into 4-4-2 on the odd occasion, 4-3-3 on the odd occasion. They're looking very, very comfortable.

So for all Guardiola's attacking mindset, it looks like learning to defend may finally get City over the hump.

    Almost!

This time PSG do work the opening down the left, allowing Herrera to find space for a shot that flies a yard over the bar.

Ederson seemed pretty confident from the moment it left the midfielder's boot.

It is telling that Di Maria and Neymar are dropping into deeper central spots, seeking out the ball before then dwelling on it in the hope of spying space or a good run. Nothing doing.

That final ball is not there yet for PSG. They're getting plenty of possession and territory to carry them to the edge of the City box, but can't find a way to break down this well-drilled home defence.

Neymar and Di Maria have shown nice touches, but nothing truly telling.

City are looking very composed, very controlled when they're in possession. I do like the weight of pass when they play it to each other. If they have to pass it in quick, they'll pass it in quick. If they want to pass it for that player, they pass it for that player. It's very, very good play.

De Bruyne looks to deal a killer blow with a shot from the edge of the box, but he curls his effort wide.

John Wilkes: These Champions League matches are supposed to be a spectacle, the highest quality of football. Yet it's laughable at times with the theatrics and trying to get the opposition sent off.

Anything PSG can do, City can match, if not better.

Phil Foden plays a lovely little scoop pass and just fails to find a team-mate because of the outstretched boot of a PSG defender.

There's been no dominance from either side. Yes, City have the goal that matters but both sides are really keeping the ball well, trying to play little triangles in the middle of the park.

There is a lot to admire about this PSG side. They move the ball crisply, they try to play on the front foot. Neymar looks to get another attacking move going with a ball out wide, but the cross into the mixer floats over everyone and out.

Why is it that every big European game descends very quickly into 22 bickering school kids and the referee has to play the exasperated teacher? The play acting, screaming, surrounding the referee, it's all embarrassing. Have a word with yourself boys.

This is perhaps the first little lull in the game. It's good for City, though. They needed to get a foothold and stem the PSG attacks.

Ederson is the best keeper we've seen at that ball in the Premier League. He's very comfortable with the ball at his left foot. He plays great passes. He's got an assist already this season and that's an assist for the opener tonight.

You've got to feel sorry for refs sometimes. Difficult not to be pressured by eight men appealing for a foul every 50/50.
