Everton are going top and three points clear with this win and they will stay there for overnight at least because the only two sides that can catch them at the moment - Liverpool and Leicester - play tomorrow.

Big hugs for James Rodriguez from Carlo Ancelotti but I think he'll be saying 'I fancied a hat-trick there!' Everton will be wanting to wrap him up in cotton wool. There are a lot of games happening and there will be lot expected of him. He's missed a lot of football, so little rests will probably be good.

Paul Collins: So Chris Lambo asks who's laughing now because people laughed at Ancelotti saying he would take Everton to the Champions League. So does that mean Everton have qualified already then? Oh that's right, no they haven't. It's only 4 games into the season.

If you give James Rodriguez half a chance, he'll take it but I will say, I've been very impressed by Alex Iwobi this second half. Twice he's got into really dangerous areas this left-hand side and both times it has led to goals.

To be fair, that is a brilliant goal. Everton play it all the way from their own half. The passing between Iwobi - once again he was involved, Doucoure was involved as well but they were so calm going down that left-hand side and wait for it...James scores with his right foot!

Brighton have no idea how to pick James Rodriguez up. He just develops space out of absolutely nowhere. When he gets the ball, he almost never gives it away and Brighton have just found no answer to him.

Brighton have Everton defending deep on the edge of their own area but the visitors are lacking that bit of creativity to fashion something in the final third.
