It's been lashing it down all day in my neck of the woods and it was equally damp at Goodison Park. Looks like Ruben Dias could be in for more of the same on his Premier League debut at Elland Road.

Pep Guardiola is under cover watching his side's new man warm up.

The performances from Everton have been absolutely terrific. There’s been a real desire about everything Everton have been doing.

James Rodriguez and Carlo Ancelotti have really raised the standards around Goodison Park. The only real concern is the goalkeeper.

    Brighton. This year's Norwich?

For Everton to win the League they will need 90 + points, the Leicester title win was a freak, it will take a significant drop off from Liverpool, and others for Everton to win the league. Top 4 is a possibility, top 6 more likely. Don't get carried away Everton fans.

Evertonians will love the sound of being top of the league and hope it lasts for some time to come. They have deserved it today. No big celebration for the Everton players, it's as if they believed they were good enough to do this today.

They have got a number of players either rested or injured ready to come back as well - there's more to come from this Everton team.

Carlo Ancelotti doesn't look too chuffed after that late consolation for Brighton, but it's been another fine win for his team, who showed their best (Calvert-Lewin and Rodriguez) and worst (Pickford) sides in this game.

Next up after the international break: Liverpool. Early title decider?

Guy Dore: For the first time in years it's actually worrying to be playing Everton this season. They have a team that can go toe to toe with Liverpool.

Josh Slater: The game against Liverpool will be a very good watch. First time in a while where Liverpool will be bit worried. Intrigued and excited.

The last goal was arguably the best goal of the game - brilliant volley! But it's Everton's own fault there, they got a little bit slack.

Folk going on about Everton winning title or top 4 yet any team playing a poor Spurs side, and 3 teams who will finish in bottom 6-7 West Brom, Palace and Brighton would have fancied 4 wins too!

It's about time Evertonians had something to smile about. On fire right now and yes it's early day's but the new signings are brilliant. Come on you Toffees.

    Great strike!

The ball is headed to Yves Bissouma on the edge of the area and he thumps a superb strike into the back of the net.

Not much Jordan Pickford could have done about that one.

It's getting more and more comfortable for Everton. I think Brighton have lost any belief they had. They needed to get a goal early in this second half but they couldn't manage it.

Jezz: Playing an expansive brand of attacking football only works if you have a front three that will get you more goals than the back line concede. Brighton have neither the front three or the back line to pull it off. Relegation beckons if they continue like this!

The rain keeps coming down but Carlo Ancelotti has finally taken his hood down as he has another word with left-back Lucas Digne.

In many ways, the Italian has a 'horse-whisperer' quality to his coaching style. He's not a ranter on the touchline, he carefully imparts his words of wisdom to individual players when they come close to the technical area.

When you've won the Champions League three times as a manager, those words obviously go a long way. And with that, he whips his hood back up.
