    Everton v Brighton (15:00 BST)

We'll have team news for the Everton-Brighton game at 14:00 BST, but here's a look at what we do know so far.

Everton midfielder Allan is sidelined with a groin injury sustained during the League Cup win against West Ham.

Richarlison will be assessed after he was substituted with an ankle problem on Wednesday but Jonjoe Kenny, Andre Gomes, Mason Holgate and Jarrad Branthwaite are all out.

Brighton have no new injuries and will rotate their squad after making nine League Cup changes.

Davy Propper is set to be available after the international break.

  2. Goalless everwherepublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

It is not much better in the Championship where it is goaless between Norwich and Derby. Incredibly, that game as had even fewer attempts on goal than this one.

After that big sell by me, you are welcome to pop along and follow that game here.

A promising Chelsea attack breaks down as Kai Havertz slips on the edge of the Crystal Palace area. Frank Lampard's frown deepens as he mooches along his technical area.

Ooooh, not far off! Brilliant ball in by Andros Townsend finds Mamadou Sakho but the defender nods wide.

Five minutes to go until half time. I suppose the purists will say it has been an enthralling tactical battle but really it has been a pretty dull opening 45 minutes.

Intent is a large part of determining handball and so surely you need the referee's judgement in making such calls (i.e subjectivity)

    Gaj

Can anyone actually remember a season where handball calls were seen as fair? Not making a point, a genuine question.

Brilliant ball into the box from the halfway line by Jorginho. Tammy Abraham does well to bring it under control but his shot hits Vicente Guaita and then deflects off the Chelsea striker and behind for a Crystal Palace goal kick.

It's not a great game. I think I'd rather be sat next to Rob Green and his sweet trolley.

Don't know why people are already questioning Frank's team selection. You need experience against a side that sits deep but has pace on the counter.

For a tall lad Abraham is surprisingly bad in the air - Giroud's heading abilities are far superior

A Ben Chilwell cross deflects into Callum Hudson-Odoi's path on the edge of the area. He tries to work a bit of space for himself but Joel Ward defends well to block the shot.

Phillip Broeders: If you're wondering why the handball decisions will now be 'subjective', it's because Everton got a penalty from one. This clearly broke the Premier League code.

StokedOwl: RE Manny from London - most fouls in football are subjective to the referee from game to game. It’s only a select few that aren’t supposed to be subjective.

Simon Hutchins: Handball has always been subjective. From the days when it had to be "intentional" onwards. They tried last season with the attacking side, but that wasn't seen as working!

Good, positive run by N'Golo Kante as he drives through the middle and at the retreating Crystal Palace defence.

He feeds Tammy Abraham, who tries to slip through Timo Werner but the striker can't get to the ball under pressure.

Liz Tray: Thiago Silva is so old that Messi and Sterling have named their children after him. Chelsea should be better than this.

Willem Mevius: Chelsea play without much risk, with the attackers always going for the safe option. They won't score like that.

John Caffeine: What's Manny talking about? There's been subjectivity in football for decades.

Tremendously quiet debut for Edouard Mendy in the Chelsea goal so far. He has not had a single save to make. He's picked up his water bottle more times than the ball so far.

Had both teams to score in both halves in this one... just checked palaces stats.. not sure I'm so confident anymore.

    Conor

I'm sure this time last week a reader was condemning Havertz as a has been after one game.. As an excited Evertonian I'm not looking forward to playing a fit Chelsea side with Pulisic in their too!

Eberechi Eze hasn't had much time on the ball but when he has had it he's shown some nice touches and picked the right passes.

This time, his ball through the Chelsea midfield finds Andros Townsend, who in turn plays Joel Ward into space on the right but Wilfried Zaha can't connect well with Ward's decent cross.

A rare chance for Crystal Palace as Eberechi Eze's free-kick into the box is just over Cheikhou Kouyate.

Set pieces are looking the visitors' most likely chance of scoring at the moment.

Henry Emerenini: I don't understand Lamps' team selections. We must win this game.

So let me get this straight. Now, rather than the handball law being consistent across the game, it will be "subjective"; which means one week it'll be a penalty and the other it won't. That is ludicrous. Subjectivity should NEVER come in to play when enforcing the rules of sport.

    Manny, London
