  8. 'Skittish Chelsea should have enough'published at 11:50 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

Chelsea have been very skittish so far and even in the game they won, against Brighton, they gave up a lot of chances.

Liverpool took them apart very comfortably and then they found themselves 3-0 down against West Brom. They responded well, and rescued themselves in that game, but Blues boss Frank Lampard must be wondering what his side are going to serve up next.

Chelsea always look like scoring, but defensively they have been all over the place. I do think they will improve at the back, though, once Thiago Silva settles in and has a regular partner, because he is a proper player.

So, I am going to go with them to break down Palace - they have definitely got the tools to do that, even though the Eagles always keep things pretty tight. If they get a clean sheet too, then I'd imagine Frank will be ecstatic.

    Prediction: 2-0

Chelsea fan. A slow start for sure, but it's keep the faith for me. A good performance is not far away, Werner looks like a great signing, and great to see Pulisic back today.

Amazing start to the season from the Blues. Everton now have an identity which we haven't had for years. Couldn't of wished for better signings than the quality we have and Brands and Ancelotti have bought from a plan and not just for the sake of buying. Hopeful this year will be our year!

  18. 'I am not Guardiola's mentor'published at 11:06 British Summer Time 3 October 2020

Bielsa and Guardiola have previously crossed swords in La Liga

It feels a bit disingenuous to refer to Pep Guardiola as the apprentice to Marcelo Bielsa's master considering Guardiola has won far and away more trophies than the Leeds boss.

It is not, however, a reference to what they have won but rather how Guardiola has repeatedly referred to Bielsa as the best coach in the world and that he has learned from him.

Ahead of today's game, though, Bielsa is adamant Guardiola has created his own success.

“I do not feel like a mentor to Guardiola. It’s not just how I feel, it has been evidenced to not being the case,” Bielsa said.

“If there’s a manager who is independent in his own ideas, that is Guardiola. It’s not just because I say it is, it’s because his teams play like no other team.”

Hello! We're up and at 'em early in the Premier League today with Chelsea versus Crystal Palace kicking off another full day of top-flight football.

There's lots of intrigue in the day's fixtures with plenty of sides and managers having things to prove before domestic football takes a short break for the international action to take centre stage.

After the early game, Everton host Brighton looking to maintain their perfect start to the season before the 17:30 BST kick off sees the master against the apprentice as Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds host Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Finally, Newcastle host Burnley with both sides having made unconvincing starts to their seasons.
