    Southampton v Everton (14:00 GMT)

Southampton striker Danny Ings has scored four goals in his five appearances in all competitions against Everton for the club.

He scored both home and away in this fixture last season.

Ings has also scored 26 Premier League goals since the start of last season, second only to Leicester striker Jamie Vardy (28).

Former England and Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

When Southampton lost that 9-0 to Leicester, I think they came away from the philosophy of Ralph Hasenhuttl and had to go back to being that high pressing, high energy, front footed side and I think they had come away from that. I think that defeat made them have to reassess and go back to the way Hassenhuttl played in RB Leipzig and it's been really effective. They've got top players, Danny Ings, Che Adams coming in he really fits and has been playing well. They're a really difficult side, organised and hard to beat.

    Southampton v Everton (14:00 GMT)

The Saints have kept more Premier League clean sheets against Everton than against any other side in the top flight, with 10 of their 13 coming in home games.

Southampton have only lost twice in 12 league matches (W6, D4).

Everton remain unbeaten in all competitions this season (W7, D1). It's their best start to a campaign since a nine-match run without defeat in 1986-87, when they went on to win the league title.

The Toffees have scored 14 league goals in their first five matches, their biggest haul at this stage since 1936-37. Only Tottenham, with 15, have scored more in 2020-21.

  4. 'Unbeaten run ends here'published at 13:32 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

Everton are still unbeaten but I have a feeling that run ends here.

Southampton are looking more like the side they were in the summer when they finished last season so strongly. Goals are not a problem for them with Danny Ings playing so well.

With Everton, they will have to do things a bit differently in attack while Richarlison is suspended and it is going to be interesting to see what Carlo Ancelotti does while he is out.

Saints are slowly rebuilding after years of mismanagement, so I'd be happy to see 10th or better. Just need to find Ings replacement before the inevitable sale.

    Adam, Southampton

Saints finishing in the top 10 would be an improvement. A decent cup run too would be the icing on what is usually an attractive but sub par cake. Oh, and more than one player getting 10+ goals wouldn't be too bad either.

    Mat, Bournemouth

If Saints FC finish top 10 this year, it'll be a great result, hopefully avoiding the low points of last season

    Southampton v Everton (14:00 GMT)

    Joleon Lescott
    on BBC Radio 5 Live

The issue I have with the Jordan Pickford challenge (on Virgil Van Dyke in the Merseyside derby) is that I don't want to see my goalkeeper tackling anyone in the box.

Yes you may save it with your feet and attempt to get to the ball but to be tackling someone, if he does that in a genuine attempt to smother the ball his hands or body then I think everyone would accept it. But the fact that he's actually gone in to tackle him I just don't see what any other outcome was going to be - it was always going to end badly. Even if he wins the ball I'm still questioning why he was doing it.

Mesut Ozil and Sokratis have not been selected in the Gunners' Premier League squad, but Thomas Partey may start his first game in the English top flight.

Leicester will monitor Jamie Vardy, who has missed their last two league and cup games with a calf problem.

Ricardo Pereira, Caglar Soyuncu, Daniel Amartey and Wilfred Ndidi are injured.

Islam Slimani comes back into contention after being ineligible for Thursday's victory against Zorya Luhansk. The striker was not included in the Foxes' Europa League squad but is available for domestic matches.

    Don Hutchison
Ex-Liverpool midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

James Rodriguez is the type of player who doesn't rely on pace he relies on his football brain. Even when he's half-fit or he might have jet lag from the millions of miles he's been flying over the past couple of weeks (Rodriguez represented Columbia in the recent World Cup qualifiers) Carlo Ancelotti plays him because he knows the game.

I remember on the first day of the season against Tottenham when Ancelotti put in all of his new signings and the media asked him after the game 'was that a risk? And he said 'no, because intelligent players know the game and more importantly know when to stand still and take a breather.' Rodriguez is a galactico signing and there were question marks from everyone when he was brought in because we all know he's an unbelievable player but coming to Everton you have to work hard - it's an emotional club and the fans demand graft.

  11. Why there's hope for Fulham & Bladespublished at 13:15 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

Fulham and Sheffield United lost again to take an unwanted place on a list of clubs that have made the worst starts to a Premier League season.

The Cottagers were beaten 2-1 at home by Crystal Palace on Saturday while a battling Sheffield United lost 2-1 at Anfield, leaving both sides with just one point from six matches.

Scott Parker's side remain rooted to the bottom of the table, level on points with Sheffield United and Burnley, who have only played four times and face Tottenham on Monday.

It is still early in the season, so do the Londoners and the Blades have hope - or does history suggest they are doomed already?

Southampton's Ryan Bertrand says the 9-0 thrashing by Leicester a year ago felt "like relegation" - but that it galvanised the club.

It equalled the biggest defeat in the Premier League.

Saints recovered to finish 11th last season and Bertrand said: "Since then, we've gone from strength to strength.

"It's a testament to the manager and the club. We've really come together."

Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez scored hat-tricks in that extraordinary match, as Leicester recorded the biggest away win in the entire history of the English top flight, stretching back to 1888.

Just the one change for Southampton, who are without on-loan winger Theo Walcott as he is ineligible to play against his parent club.

That paves the way for Stuart Armstrong to make his first start since 4 October.

It is one year since Southampton suffered an embarrassing 9-0 home defeat to Leicester.

Seven players who started that night - Jan Bednarek, Ryan Bertrand, Jannik Vestergaard, Oriol Romeu, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings - all start against the Premier League leaders.

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Bertrand, Armstrong, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Redmond, Adams, Ings.

Substitutes: Stephens, Long, Tella, Diallo, Vokins, Forster, N'Lundulu.

There was talk James Rodriguez might not be fit for this game after the Merseyside derby.

Rodriguez is fit enough to appear in the starting XI but Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti makes three changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Liverpool.

Gylfi Sigurdsson returns to captain the side while Ben Godfrey makes his first Premier League start for the Toffees. Alex Iwobi also returns.

Richarlison is suspended, Seamus Coleman has a hamstring injury and Andre Gomes drops to the bench.

Everton XI: Pickford, Godfrey, Mina, Keane, Digne, Doucoure, Allan, Sigurdsson, Rodriguez, Calvert-Lewin, Iwobi.

Substitutes: Delph, Nkounkou, Bernard, Andre Gomes, Gordon, Davies, Olsen.

One win in four Premier League games, another injury for Sergio Aguero and key players still missing - is this Pep Guardiola's biggest test in his four years at Manchester City?

Despite Phil Foden's equaliser in a 1-1 draw at West Ham on Saturday, City have dropped seven points from the first five games and are anchored in the bottom half of the table.

They welcomed back Kevin de Bruyne from injury at London Stadium but Aguero, who had surgery on a knee injury in June, did not appear for the start of the second half, because of a leg muscle injury.

It has been a less than smooth start for Guardiola - who guided City to the Premier League title in 2018 and 2019 - so what now?

  20. No consideration to leave Pickford outpublished at 12:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 October 2020

    Southampton v Everton (14:00 GMT)

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti said he had not considered leaving goalkeeper Jordan Pickford out of today's match at Southampton.

Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk was left needing surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury after a tackle by Pickford, which went unpunished, during last Saturday's Merseyside derby.

Police have been investigating social media "threats" made towards Pickford.

"He is going to play on Sunday," said Ancelotti.

"I don't take into consideration to take him out. He trained well and is focused on the game."
