Chelsea continue to look the far more threatening of the two sides. Ben Chilwell's deep cross causes all sorts of bother and prompts Charlie Taylor to thigh the ball behind for a corner. The resulting set-piece comes to nothing.

David Ljunggren: Sean Dyche will be furious. Such a cheap giveaway for the goal.

I feel for the teams of less wealthy clubs. They're accused of being conservative against clubs who've spent a fortune on some of the world's best players, when what they're doing is playing the percentages. If they can steal a point and/or keep their goal difference down, job done. It's easy to understand what that's the limit of their ambition.

Ziyech played in midweek in the Champions League and he was never afraid to take shots on.

It was a clever shot, but Nick Pope will be disappointed conceding that goal.

Burnley win a corner, but they fail to make anything of it as the delivery is swung straight into the grasp of Edouard Mendy.

  6. 'It's a soft goal'published at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Burnley 0-1 Chelsea

    Tim Cahill
Former Everton midfielder on Final Score

It looks like Nick Pope is stepping to his right and Hakim Ziyech has reversed it into the bottom corner. The goalkeeper’s just gone down, so it’s a soft goal.

Burnley were doing well up to that point, but it was only a matter of Chelsea being patient.

Chris Wood looks to retaliate for Burnley, but he can't muscle his way past Kurt Zouma on the edge of the Chelsea box. Two big fellas, refusing to give an inch.

    Burnley 0-1 Chelsea

You fear for Burnley. Chelsea smell blood. Timo Werner gets in behind the defence and crosses low across the box but not in an area Tammy Abraham can capitalise.

Doesn't matter anyway. Flag was up.

  9. 'That was always coming'published at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Burnley 0-1 Chelsea

    Leon Osman
Former Everton midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a goal that was always coming, Chelsea have been on top since the start of this game. Chelsea have so many players who are prepared to turn on the ball and face up to this Burnley defence. It's all down to Chelsea dominating the middle of the park.

    Hakim Ziyech

He's making some start to his Chelsea career, this lad.

Having netted against Krasnodar midweek, Ziyech adds another goal on his full Premier League debut. Tammy Abraham tees him up in the box and Ziyech does the rest with a low shot that wrong-foots Pope and finds the net.

Steve in Milan: Once again you need to ask where is VAR for the Chilwell pen?

Lewis Starks: Two weeks in a row Chelsea denied stonewall penalties, which is even more ridiculous considering there is technology to revisit the decisions!!!

It would be fair to say that Burnley are playing quite conservative. They have had just the one touch in Chelsea's box so far. That touch, though, was the Barnes chance that he put over - the best of the game so far.

  13. 'He's pushed him'published at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

He’s got his hand on him and he’s pushed him. There is an argument for giving a penalty.

Considering what’s been happening in the last few weeks, I thought VAR might have given that.

  14. Postpublished at 22 mins

Chelsea continue to press forward. Hakim Ziyech's ball, deep into the box, almost finds the marauding Ben Chilwell but instead skips out of play for a goal kick.

I think it is a penalty. Josh Brownhill realises he's done, Ben Chilwell's just about to head it in. There's definitely contact, definitely enough to ask the question of the referee.

Ben Chilwell wants a penalty. He goes in looking for a point-blank header from Reece James' cross and ends up in the back of the net after a challenge from Josh Brownhill. He pleads to the ref, but nothing doing.

Soon after Tammy Abraham draws a save from Pope with a header.

Burnley look like they're playing a back six and it's giving Chelsea so much space in front of the defence. They're just knocking the ball around, creating pockets of space and they're dominating the match at the moment.

Chelsea starting to ask a few questions. Ben Chilwell swings over a cross that beats everyone in the box before Timo Werner gathers and pokes a ball into the middle that Burnley are able to clear.
