City trying to take the sting out of the home side now, getting back on the ball and remaining patient.

Looks like we'll be seeing Phil Foden shortly.

De Bruyne just makes things happen. His superb ball in behind the defence finds Sterling, who tries to squeeze a ball out to a team-mate at the near post but sees it instead deflect to Ramsdale.

    15 to go.

Rob A.: Yemi 13:35. Ben Foster finished bottom with West Brom in 2017/18. Moved to Watford for 2018/19. Finished 11th and played in the FA Cup final. Ramsdale is definitely good enough.

Stuart Eccles: Where has it gone wrong for Sheffield Utd, is it simply a case of second season syndrome? They were such an effective team last year.

Sulaimon Adelekan: I've been really impressed with Cancelo today. He has been massive going forward and decent in defending.

  7. Breaking team newspublished at 14:00 Greenwich Mean Time 31 October 2020

    Burnley v Chelsea (15:00 GMT)

Thiago Silva returns to the Chelsea starting XI. Jorginho and Timo Werner drop to bench with Mason Mount starting in midfield and Hakim Ziyech in attack. Kepa is not in squad (seemingly still out with shoulder injury).

Brilliant by Berge. If only there was a finish at the end of it.

The Norwegian beats a man superbly during a mazy run to the byline and then finds John Lundstram with a pinpoint pull-back, but the substitute fires over when he should have hit the target.

    United are on top.

AnotherNoise: Me wondering what exactly a 'slide rule' pass was...

Rubix Cube: There was only one player necessary for CM97/98 - Roberto Baggio. More twenties than a silent film actor doing the Charleston.

Me, my dad and my brother are stood right in the middle of the photo used as the home screen for CM97-98. I must be about 10 in the picture, taken in the South Stand at the old Dean Court.

Riyad Mahrez tries to do too much in the box, taking on a host of Blades players before being robbed of the ball. Ferran Torres gives him both barrels for not passing to him deep in the area.

    Sheffield United 0-1 Man City

A really good cross into the mixer by Chris Basham is well cleared by Ruben Dias. Soon after, Sander Berge drives to the byline and crosses low but Edersen is alert and pounces on the ball.

There is a menace now about the home side.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 65 mins

    Sheffield United 0-1 Man City

A second midfield change for United, who send on Oliver Norwood for Ethan Ampadu.

Pep Guardiola is on his feet and gesticulating. Starting to feel the tension a bit.

  13. Postpublished at 63 mins

    Sheffield United 0-1 Man City

City haven't quite hit the attacking heights they managed in the first half. This is a bit more of a contest now. Although Edersen is still largely untested.

Yemi, actually Ben Foster did for Watford after getting relegated with West Brom. Watford relegated the next season though

    Good save!

City are given another free-kick on the edge of the Blades box for a foul on De Bruyne. Mahrez takes it and beats the wall but not the diving Ramsdale, who pushes the ball away with his left hand.

Man City's squad depth is incredible. Despite injuries to key players they are able to field a starting 11 with £50m in virtually every position. Luxury.

    Matthew from Bolton

With Chelsea and West Ham next up for the Blades, it could be 1pt from 9 games. Certain relegation form sadly- where does next win come from?

    Just wide!

More good work from Kyle Walker sees him drive to the byline before digging out a pull-back that is cleared only as far as De Bruyne. He fires low but just past the far post.

  19. Postpublished at 53 mins

Oh, Aaron Ramsdale takes a big risk and gets away with it. A through-ball from deep finds Torres behind the Blades defence and prompts the keeper to come racing out. Realising he has left his goal uncovered the keeper is relieved when Torres' shot lands in his arms.

Jonathan: Memories of CM97-98 - adding a second manager at a rich club then buying players from my club that I didn't want anymore, for hugely inflated fees, to give me a massive transfer budget.

Michael Pooter: Always finishing 2nd behind Wigan with Fulham... Conroy & Cusack only bettered by the Three Amigos!
