Villa were fantastic in their 3-0 win over Arsenal last time out.

They stayed compact when Arsenal had the ball. They stayed so rigid in defence. But when they won the ball, they went.

We talk about Jack Grealish and the attacking options. But defensively they were so tight, that’s where they got it spot on.

When everything clicks, Villa look very good. They completely outplayed Arsenal at the start of this month and had that extraordinary win over Liverpool in October.

But they have also lost at home to Leeds and Southampton in the past couple of weeks, so it is not easy to predict what they will do next.

I am also not sure what to expect from Brighton. At the start of the season, in games against Chelsea, Newcastle and Manchester United, they looked very dangerous going forward.

That hasn't been the case recently against West Brom and Burnley, though. The Seagulls have drawn a lot of games in the past few weeks, and I think they could end up sharing the points again.

To Villa Park... where Aston Villa are hosting Brighton and could, if they go goal crazy, take Chelsea's spot at the top of the table.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard speaking to BT Sport: "We can’t have it all our own way, but we put the game away with a professional performance.

"First 20 minutes we were great, we had control and all the possession.

"They came out in the second half and I always felt that the real danger from us would be on the counter.

"You saw that with Timo (Werner) on the break and then setting up Tammy (Abraham's) goal.

"It’s very easy to play the safe pass but we had to keep making the runs and efforts to get in there.

"We played well, the result is key because the Premier League is tough and relentless. I thought the lads dealt with the challenge today and I’m really please

I think you have to take Chelsea seriously [in the title race].

If you look at the character of the manager, Frank Lampard has been a winner all of his life.

He knows what that feels like - and he'll want that back.

Lampard seems to have replaced Willian with two or three [good players] and he's really comfortable with what is happening both on and off the field.

I think he's currently punching above his weight, in terms of his managerial experience.

Chelsea goalscorer Tammy Abraham speaking to BT Sport: "It's a fantastic result, we had to dig deep as it's never an easy place to come. It was 1-0 for a very long time, they created a few chances, but so did we, but we defended well and got that second goal.

"We didn't let didn't the international break distract us, we had to come to come out all guns blazing, we did that and it's a massive three points.

"These games are always tricky when you can't get that second goal. It's very easy to drop your head and lose confidence, but we didn't do that and kept going.

On his goal: "We knew we had to be quick on the counter so I had to get myself forward. I was tired but I had to keep control and it killed the game off thankfully."

On being top of the table: "No pressure! That's where want to be, we just need to keep getting the three points and hopefully we will stay up there."

Newcastle have now lost five of their last seven home matches in the Premier League (W2), as many as in the previous 25.

From very early on this looked a nailed on Chelsea win. And so it came to be. They utterly dominated a Newcastle side, who showed a bit more spirit in the second half but nowhere near enough to trouble their opponent.

Great chance for Andy Carroll to narrow the deficit in added time, but after carrying the ball into the box he sees his effort diverted into the side-netting.

At the other end, Giroud volleys wide after being set up by a chipped ball over the top. Wouldn't have counted though. Flag is up.

Newcastle are still plugging away, but this game was beyond them from the moment Abraham's effort found the net.

Chelsea continue to dig into their reserves, sending on Olivier Giroud for Hakim Ziyech. Lampard certainly can't complain about being short of a world-class player or two.
