The goalline verdict on the clearance by Marc Albrighton has come in - and that couldn't have been any closer.

Kasper Schmeichel parries Sadio Mane's drive and into the path of Roberto Firmino but the Liverpool forward just cannot catch a break as his control lets him down with an open goal in front of him.

The replay of the clearance off the line is incredible. Talking millimetres of the ball not going over the line.

Nine minutes left and time is running out for Leicester. They really need a goal now if they are to have a chance of staging an unlikely comeback.

Roberto Firmino gets in behind the Leicester defence and beats Kasper Schmeichel but his shot smacks off the post and back to him. His second attempt is cleared off the line by Marc Albrighton before Sadio Mane's follow up deflects off Schmeichel and onto the woodwork again.

Somehow, Liverpool don't have a third.

It's 'where's the bus' time for Leicester.

Now Wesley Fofana does commit a foul, this time on Andy Robertson on the edge of the area. Liverpool have a free kick in a decent position but the whistle is blown for a push inside the box as Robertson's ball comes in.

Diogo Jota skips through the Leicester defence and gets a shot off just before he tumbles after a challenge by Wesley Fofana. The shot goes wide and Jurgen Klopp is fuming. He thinks that should be a penalty but after a quick check by VAR nothing is given.

Tom Couch: This Leicester performance has shown them up for what they truly are: overated flat track bullies who can't compete with the big boys! Fofana is a prime example!

Jamie Vardy is flagged offside and that eases the little bit of pressure Liverpool had been coming under for the last few minutes.

A bad challenge by Nampalys Mendy on Georginio Wijnaldum, the sort of tackle that will have Liverpool fans wincing as they cross their fingers not to lose more players to injury. Mendy is booked and Wijnaldum is OK.

Double change for Leicester as Christian Fuchs and Harvey Barnes are replaced by Cengiz Under and Dennis Praet.

Good spell of possession from Leicester at the moment as James Milner gets in the way of Under's strike.

A Leicester free kick is over the Liverpool wall and suddenly Jamie Vardy is in. He lacks conviction in his attempt to get a shot off and Alisson is able to save before he can strike.

Looking at the replay, Vardy was offside, and perhaps he knew it. Hence the hesitancy.

Wesley Fofana slips the ball down the right flank for Marc Albrighton but his ball into the box is too close to Alisson.

For all of Liverpool's dominance if Leicester can get one goal back then it would set up a tense finale.

Leicester have looked a little more lively in this half but it is Liverpool who still look far more threatening. This has been a superb performance from the champions.

First, Diogo Jota forces a good save out of Kasper Schmeichel at his near post, Jota picks up the loose ball and again is denied by Schmeichel before Jonny Evans then heads the loose ball onto his own post.

Almost an own goal brace for Evans there.
