Wolves 1-1 Southampton
Southampton
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to BBC Sport: "A draw for both teams. We had chances, they had chances. We had a chance for 2-0. When you score it's tough for them to come back.
"They are a really good side with quality. It's tough to defend for 90 minutes, you cannot play without giving them chances.
"I'm proud of the team. That was one of our most intense performances of thre season."
On Theo Walcott: "It was a good first goal for him. He's a little unhappy he didn't make the second one and that he coudn't be the match winner. The way he works for the team is amazing. As a number 10 or a striker you can trust him. He's an experienced guy who comes back to the club where he grew up. It means something for him. Maybe that's why he invests so much. You know you have to do that in our team.
"Alex [McCarthy] has made massive progress. Congratulations to our goalkeeper coach. The whole team is in a good way at the moment."
On fans coming back: "It would be great. Hopefully we can show them the same performances we show them at home on the TV. We will do everything to make them happy."

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl on Sky Sports: "I am happy. For everyone it was a tough game, tactically so demanding, it was like chess. They played 4-3-3, we didn't expect that but we found the answers.
"We didn't have 100% conviction in the final third but we got the first goal and we think three points is possible but we knew it was a long way to go. It was a deserved draw for both teams.
"There were more gaps becuase of the way they played but our decisions in the final third let us down. In the end, with the options we have we did our maximum.
"Wolves have a fantastic squad, they are very convinced about what they are doing. Today was a signal for us that we can compete with these teams."

Wolves
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Sport: "It was a good game. Both teams played with high tempo. We played good.
"Southampton played good also. They have very good players and a very good manager. We matched them. We finished the game on the front foot. I'm very proud of the reaction to the goal."
On whether there was a foul in the build-up to Southampton's goal: "I think so. After that it was about reacting to that incident, trying to get our mind off the referee decision and focus on the game. The boys did that. It was a strong reaction. We finished the game well, creating chances. Let's go again."
On fans coming back: "We all wish it was tomorrow. We have enormous desire to have the fans back. It's all about them. Let's try our best to bring them back."

Theo Walcott is told he has scored for a 14th straight Premier League season: "You're making me feel old! I'm only 31 but I feel like a kid again. I'm fit, I love the Premier League."

Southampton
Southampton forward Theo Walcott: "It was a very tidy finish in the end, Che gave me the assist, I was pleased with my goal. It feels like a win, they play some fantastic football and it's a really good point.
"A lot of teams won't want to play against us. We have trust as a unit, we want to play together and that's the way we are. We want to win games.
"I will be looking at my second chance but I can't dwell on that. It's fine, that's football. I'm very pleased to score for the Saints again."
Wolves 1-1 Southampton
Wolves
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo to Sky: "It was a very intesne game, high tempo, a good game of football.
"They press very well, we were better second half and reacted very well to their goal and we went for it, we were aggressive.
"I am happy and very proud of the boys. Conor Coady was not playing and Saiss also so we decided to go with three midfielders and a back four. We should grow, find solutions. We have an identity that is not about the system it is about the idea to fight and to play good.
"We try to be solid and we managed that. Let's see if we play a back four again, that's not the point. We should analyse what we have and try to improve it."

Re the Coady for Liverpool comment, Matthijs De Ligt is very much more a Liverpool-style centre-back. He will doubtless cost a fortune too.

Southampton
Southampton goalscorer Theo Walcott to BBC Sport: "I'm very happy with the overall perfomance of the team. We dug deep. The international break can be unsettling. We worked very hard to get a point. It feels like a win.
"The guys have done brilliant – seven games without losing.
"No, I do not [remember his last Saints league goal]. The smile on my face says it all. The club are close to my heart. Hopefully I can show what I can do the field.
"Our aim is to continue fighting. Who knows where it will go? We’re not easy to play against. Our fitness levels showed."

Aashish: Wolves only playing 45mins has to be a deliberate long range rope-a-dope strategy. They just do it too often to be coincidence.
Theo Walcott doesn't remember his last league goal for Southampton...

Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live
Theo Walcott has never been what you would describe as a natural finisher. You saw the reaction from Ralph Hasenhüttl [to the Walcott miss] in his technical area. He turned round. He was furious. He knew that was the opportunity.

Tim Postins: Theo Walcott’s previous goal for Southampton happened so long ago that I’ve actually heard of the song that was number 1 at the time.

Theo Walcott got his goal with an easy tap-in but fluffed his lines with another big opportunity when going through on goal, one-on-one and pulled it past the post.
Wolves did respond really well after the Southampton goal, had chances of their own and eventually got one - 1-1 probably just about right, I think.

Wolves
Wolves forward Pedro Neto on Sky Sports: "I did my job, that's what I do. I want to start but I can help the team if I come off the bench and I did that.
"It's the first time since I was here we played with a back four, we enjoyed it. The result is not the best but we can do it, whatever formation we play."

As to Ed from Birmingham’s point about the 15-year gap between Southampton goals for Theo Walcott, Jari Litmanen scored for HJK Helsinki in August 2011. His previous goal for the club came in 1992.

Tim in Marlow - nothing to discuss, silly boy. Go to bed.
Colin, Liverpool
If Maguire cost 80 mil..... Conor Coady surely would be worth a few quid more.....
Trim, Hereford
Coady going to the 'pool is a possibility. As is multiverse theory and quantum gravity. Defenders at Liverpool are replaceable, at Wolves he is irreplaceable.
Toby, Leicester
