Peru - that's where Walcott would be landing if he'd turned out like that against Chopper or 'Bites Your Legs'.

Paul Nicholson: Sorry Slightly Jealous Seagulls Fan. Newcastle's 1996 granddad collar black & white top and burgundy & blue hooped away one were the best Premier League kits ever. Argument over!

Southampton have been the better team. Wolves, with a back-four for the first time since May 2017, have not looked convincing.

  6. Postpublished at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2020

Wolves have had 10 shots in the first half of a Premier League game without scoring for the first time since November 2019 against Arsenal (13 attempts, 0 goals).

They've also played Common People pre-game and at half-time which is no bad thing but suggests a rather short playlist.

  7. 'There is relief for the players'published at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2020

    Burnley 1-0 Crystal Palace

    Burnley

Burnley manager Sean Dyche speaking to Sky Sports: “There is relief in the sense of for the players and the hard work they put in.

“In the first half I thought we were very good and contained the game well with the ball. We found a good goal out of a strange situation. In the second half we made two or three great chances. Pleased with a lot of aspects but there is still work to be done.

“When you are playing well you want the reward for a good performance. It is difficult when you haven’t had a win. We just got a little bit nervous and we missed chances as well and that players with the mind of a player wondering if it is going to be one of those night.

“And then [Nick] Pope makes a massive save at the end and you see it off with a clean sheet.”

The talk on social should be what a good team Southampton are. They have been the dominant team. They look slicker. They all know their roles within the team.

Is it fair to say they have missed Danny Ings? I think it is. He is so prolific for them but they have still been the better team.

  10. 'Something to build on'published at 20:49 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2020

    Burnley 1-0 Crystal Palace

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BBC Sport: "That's three clean sheets in the last five games so that is something to build on. It got a bit nervy towards the end because we hadn't got that first win.

"We know they have people who can shoot from distance. It was a brilliant save (by Nick Pope near the end). We talked about putting bodies on the line and we did that at Brighton and when Popey is required he makes great saves.

"We've got more of our mainstays coming back. There's more players getting fit and there's a more competitive attitude and it gives us more strength in depth.

"We've had a tough start, still loads to be done but they've deserve the win tonight and I think that has been coming over the last three or four games."

Steve Hegen: Is it me or do Southampton look like Peru?

Ally Donaldson: Southampton looks too much like a Peru strip and sends shivers down a Scotsman’s kilt.

Simeon: Yes, Saints' kit is excellent but Wolves have the best BADGE the Premier League has ever seen (another Seagulls supporter).

  14. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2020

Saints keeper Alex McCarthy made a few good saves but overall it's been a bit slow and steady so far.

  15. YELLOW CARDSpublished at 45 mins

Ruben Neves and Adama Traore get booked in quick succession. Signs of frustration in a niggly midfield battle.

Oriol Romeu goes off to get his boots changed, which seems fair enough, and referee Andre Marriner is absolutely furious that he hasn't asked permission. Properly raging. A grown man.

  19. 'White picket fence'published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November 2020

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's interesting to see Nuno on the touchline, he kind of walks around the technical area, rather than staying in it. I would like to see a white picket fence rather than a line drawn to mark them out. That should keep the managers in there.
